Taizhou University is a comprehensive general university established with the approval of the Ministry of Education and implemented a provincial and municipal joint management system with the city as the main school. The origin of the school can be traced back to the Simple Teachers College of Santai Middle School established in 1907. In 2020, it entered the Chinese Applied University Among the top ten in the rankings, was approved as a master's degree-granting unit in 2021, and appointed professor Chen Shiyi, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences as the honorary president.

     The University is divided into three campuses in Jiaojiang and Linhai, with good school conditions and beautiful campus scenery，covering a total area of nearly 1,600 acres, with a total value of teaching and scientific research instruments and equipment of 490 million yuan, a collection of more than 2.4 million paper books, 4 directly affiliated hospitals, 4 wholly-owned enterprises，and 2 affiliated kindergartens; it consists of 14 secondary colleges including the School of Humanities, the School of Business (Taizhou Small and Micro Finance College), the School of Foreign Languages, the School of Electronics and Information Engineering (Big Data) and etc. There are more than 16,000 full-time students, including more than 300 international students with academic qualifications; more than 30 provincial and ministerial level talents such as national key plan candidates, more than 80 provincial talents such as Provincial 151 talents, nearly 700 Ph.D.s, and 22 people selected into the top 2% in the world list of top scientists.

    The University has 3 master's degree authorization points, 6 provincial first-class disciplines, 1 provincial leading innovation and entrepreneurship team and a provincial high-level innovation team, provincial key laboratories (Engineering Technology Research Center), and provincial engineering research centers. There are 7 provincial key industrial technology alliances, 1 national expert service base, 1 national postdoctoral research station, and 1 provincial academician expert workstation. Chemistry, materials science, environment/ecology, and clinical medicine have entered the top 1% of ESI global disciplines; 55 undergraduate majors including 2 national-level specialty majors, 3 national-level first-class undergraduate major construction sites, and 11 provincial-level first-class undergraduate major construction sites.

    In recent years, the University has won more than 400 teaching achievements at the provincial level and above, and more than 1,000 competition awards at the provincial level and above. The employment rate remains above 93%, and graduates are welcomed by industry enterprises; with the internationalization of education as the starting point, it promotes open education , broaden the horizons of teachers and students, jointly cultivate a master's degree in nursing with California Baptist University, cooperate with New Mexico State University to organize an undergraduate education program in civil engineering, and cooperate with universities in the United States, Britain, South Korea and other countries through "2+2" and "3+1" model, and has established friendly exchange relations with more than 50 foreign (overseas) universities, with alumni all over the world.
