On October 13, 2021, the 1stlecture of the third season of the lecture series “Book Fragance onCampus” (the 82ndlecture in total)is delivered at the Student Activity Center of Jiaojiang Campus.Chen Guangting,president ofTaizhou University,is invited as the first guest speaker of this semester to give a lecture on systems thinking.The lecture is attended by Wu Guoqing, a member of the CPC Taizhou University Committee and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Committee of the university.Nearly 500 students and faculty members participate in the lecture.
President Chenstarts his lecture with somecases such as Dujiangyan water conservancy project to explain the specific application of systems thinking in production and life, and then introduces some relevant concepts of systems thinking. By citing common systems in life, he discusses in detail the characteristics of systems thinking such as being holistic, comprehensive, dynamic and optimized.When talking about the significance of systems thinking for public policy, administration,and personal development, Chen pointsout some of the dangers of lacking systems thinking and briefly explains how to use a systems approach to solve problems.
