On the morning of October28th,the thirty-first sports meeting of TU was hosted in Jiaojiang Campus. The president of TU,Chen Guangting announced the commencement of the games, the vice party secretary of Taizhou University Committee Pan Tongtian addressed the event, and the vice president of TU Zhao Xiaoming hosted it.
Allthe school leaders, directors of all the secondary schools and the event-related departments, as well as part of the organization committee for the games composed a pacemaker group, along with over 500 student representatives, jointly initiating the TU “2021 Long-distance Running”.Pan Tongtian, on behalf of theTUauthorities,expressed warm congratulations to the opening of the sports meeting, extended sincere greetings to all the athletes, coaches, referees and volunteers, and expressed heartfelt thanks to all the teachers and students who have contributed to organizing the event. He pointed out that sport is a carrier of the dream of country prosperity and people’s revitalization, which concerns people’s wellbeing and future. Over the past years, TU authorities have attached great importance to the development ofsportcause. They have all along taken it as the core of priorities for cultivating socialism constructors and predecessors, and considered the sports meeting as a great opportunity for cohering minds and increasing morale, as well as a significant platform for promoting communication, gathering strength, and facilitating development. Since2020, TU has achieved remarkable achievements in sport with the concerted efforts of the faculty and students.
Pan mentioned that the annual sports meeting makes a comprehensive inspection on mental outlook and physical qualities of all faculty members and students as well as those of TU administrative staff. He expected all the athletes to exercise the spirit of being higher, faster and stronger, and fight for good achievements; all the referees practice fairly, and working staff enthusiastically serve the event to ensure the meeting runs in good order; the faculty and students take this event as an opportunity marching into the arena, and by extension, marking the strongest voice for building a high-level application-oriented university which is both first-class at home and enjoys a good reputation internationally as early as possible.

During the opening ceremony, the flag team, the national flag square team, and the lion-dancing team repeatedly created upsurges. Similarly, the students from all the secondary schools impressed the audience with their lofty and creative performances in a wide variety.

This sports meeting lasts 2 days offering 17 sports events for students, 6 for student teams and 5 for the faculty, attracting nearly a thousand teachers and students to participate.
