Zhang Zixin, an alumnus of TU, designs for the Beijing Winter Olympics

At the Beijing Winter Olympics, the zipper on the Chinese athletes' podium-wear was provided by Zhejiang Weixing Industrial Development Co., Ltd. Zhang Zixin, the designer of this work, is a 2020 graduate majoring in product design from School of Art and Design at Taizhou University. This zipper design fully considers Chinese elements. The magnetic suction buckle is inspired by the C-shaped jade dragon of Hongshan culture, which is known as "the first jade dragon in China". The shape is smooth, simple and beautiful. The pull piece is inspired by dragon jade fragments and wrapped with transparent renewable materials, which echoes with the magnetic suction buckle.

Zhang Zixin is currently the chief designer of the sports group in the product R & D center of Weixing zipper branch. After joining Weixing in March 2020, Mr Zhang has won 3 R & D invention patents and 5 utility model patents. His design for sports brands such as Adidas, Nike and Anta has been applied to a variety of clothes such as the podium-wear of the Chinese national team (Dragon clothes) and Adidas New Year series.

School of Art and Design has in-depth cooperation with Weixing Group in school enterprise cooperation, internship practice, talent transportation and other aspects. In recent two years, our school has transported 6 product design talents for Weixing Group. On this basis, we hope to further expand the field of cooperation and exchange, carry out all-round and in-depth school enterprise cooperation, encourage more students to stay in Taizhou and make more contributions to the economic and social development of Taizhou.
