Wang Zheng, who announced the opening of the Reading Festival, gave a speech filled with ancient wisdom and modern philosophy, leading the attendees back to Song Dynasty in which reading and readers were highly valued and respected. Wang Zheng pointed out that attaching importance to reading in the Song Dynasty brought many changes to the ideas, culture and society, which can be best represented by the "Song Rhyme" culture reflecting the excellent civilized elements, internal spirit and cultural value of Northern Song Dynasty and Southern Song Dynasty. At the same time, he also analyzed the other side of the cultural integration of the Song Dynasty. People's spiritual value and cultural creation, scriptures and historical records, calligraphy, painting and ceramics were spread through material images. Therefore, he pointed out that we should understand after reading that material is no longer simple and rough, but embodies far-reaching philosophy and infinite interest in life. The ultimate purpose of reading should be reflected in the double harvest of spirit and material. Wang Zheng hoped that in the current epidemic situation, we can communicate with the world through reading in a safe school environment, realize our longing for spring and illuminate our spiritual world.
As a teacher representative, Professor Li Jianjun, head of the School of Humanities, enthusiastically introduced Liang Xiaosheng's excellent book "The World", and analyzed its historical thickness and literary power. He suggested that readers should find the poetry of life and the brilliance of human nature in classic works and social practice. On behalf of the students, Wu Wenhua of the Reader Service Association shared her reading experience and proposed to inherit the excellent tradition of reading in China so as to increase wisdom, accumulate strength and share the joy of reading.
