On June 26, the founding and unveiling ceremony of the School of Materials Science and Engineering and the School of Pharmacy of Taizhou University was held in the International Conference Hall. Li Changming, Vice Mayor of Taizhou, and Cui Fengjun, Secretary of the CPC Committee of Taizhou University jointly inaugurated the School of Materials Science and Engineering and the School of Pharmacy.

The ceremony was also attended by Xin Hongxiang, Deputy Secretary General of the municipal government, Huang Renchuan, Director of the Municipal Bureau of Education, Jiang Xianzhang, Deputy Director of the Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, Ye Xingfu, Deputy Director of the Municipal Bureau of Market Supervision and Administration, and TU leaders Pan Tongtian, Jin Xianlong, Wang Zheng, Hu Shaoguang, Li Weiming, Yang Jianguo and Jin Song. It was presided over by Li Junmin, member of the CPC Committee and Vice President of Taizhou University.

In his speech, Cui Fengjun said that taking root in Taizhou and serving its development is not only the inborn mission of Taizhou University but also the key to the cultivation of discipline and specialty characteristics as well as the cultivation of high-quality application-oriented talents who are loyal, dedicated, enterprising and cooperative. The establishment of these two new schools is an inherent need to implement the important deployment of the CPC Committee and the government of Zhejiang Province, and to deeply serve the high-quality development of Taizhou's advanced industrial clusters. It is also an inevitable requirement of implementing TU's "Fourteenth Five Year Plan" and improving the discipline and specialty layout. Cui Fengjun hopes that the new schools have a sense of ownership, highlight the mission of the application-oriented university, improve the effectiveness of the training of application-oriented talents, firmly adhere to the concept of "three communities" between the University, the local government and the enterprise, and anchor the development needs of industrial enterprises so as to continuously train and transport high-quality applied talents for Taizhou industrial enterprises.

Li Changming said in his speech that the establishment of the two schools is not only an important measure to promote the spirit of the Party Congress to blossom in Taizhou with the fastest and most practical action after the successful conclusion of the 15th Provincial Party Congress, but also an important measure to closely connect with the "100 billion Plan" for the cultivation of a new round of strategic emerging industries in Taizhou, and to promote the integration of the TU's discipline and specialty construction and Taizhou's industry. Li Changming hopes that TU will closely follow the development of Taizhou's advanced industrial clusters and strategic emerging industries, make more and faster achievements in talent training, scientific research and achievement transformation, and go further and wider in the path of leapfrog development, application-oriented development and open development so as to provide talent guarantee and intellectual support for Taizhou's economic and social development.

At the ceremony, Li Junmin read out the approval documents and appointment notices of the School of Materials Science and Engineering and the School of Pharmacy. Zhu Liu, Deputy Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, and Hu Jinfeng, Dean of the School of Pharmacy spoke respectively. Universities including Peking University, Fudan University, and Zhejiang University of Technology sent congratulatory letters.
