On October 23, the international students of the International School participated in the Chinese Bridge project, walking into Kongqiu Village and Linggen Village in Linhai City to feel China and experience traditional farming culture. The team of Associate Professor Jin Niya, who is in charge of the Chinese Bridge project, is planning, editing and directing the whole process.
In Kongqiu Village, the overseas students were warmly welcomed by the local villagers. Zhang Hulin, a villager of Kongqiu Village, led the team to visit the Dongtai Bridge, the Stone Tablet narrating a family of five generations living together in the same hall, the Old Commercial Street and other historic sites, and explain the story of Kongqiu Village to the students. Under the guidance of the teachers, the foreign students, who listened carefully and asked questions from time to time, said that they benefited a lot.
In Linggen Village, the foreign students and their delegation visited two folk houses with typical Jiangnan quadrangle characteristics - Wang Shifang's Former Residence and Wang Wenqing's Former Residence. Zhou Caishuang, a local knowledgeable person, introduced the building structure of the courtyard and Chinese elements to the members of the team in detail. The international students said that they learned a lot of knowledge that was not available in textbooks, which was very meaningful, and they had greater expectations for the following project activities.
This activity is a vivid practice of encouraging foreign students to visit more places in China, and it is also one of the offline activities organized for our Chinese Bridge Delegation Online project.
