Recently, the final of the Tenth National Science Education Normal Students' Teaching Skills Innovation Competition was successfully concluded in Lingnan Normal University. With the theme of "looking for future science educators", this competition has 706 participants from 64 undergraduate colleges and universities. After the competition of a series of preliminary projects such as teaching design, simulation teaching, and design of scientific and technological activities, 10 contestants from School of Life Sciences of Taizhou University were selected for the finals of the junior high school group. Seven of them, including Huang Jiamin, Wang Xinhui, Yao Yingcong, Zhang Jiafan, Zhang Chenxuan, Zhou Ludan, and Kong Xiaoli, won the first prize, and another student, Liang Min, won the second prize. Taizhou University also won the award of excellent organization. The number of the first prize winners of Taizhou University in this competition is the largest in all these years, which fully demonstrates the scientific spirit, innovative consciousness and educational and teaching ability of normal school students.
The final is divided into three parts: impromptu speech, simulated teaching, and judges' questions, which is a comprehensive evaluation of normal students' scientific teaching ability. During the competition, relevant instructors carefully studied the requirements of the competition, actively mobilized students to participate, and carefully carried out counseling. The contestants are fully committed and actively prepared for the competition. In the future, School of Life Sciences will continue to focus on the growth of students, pay attention to the training of normal students' teaching skills and innovation awareness, comprehensively improve the quality of normal students' training, and highlight the characteristics of science education.
