TU celebrates the 20th anniversary of upgrading from college to university

On December 11, Taizhou University held a grand ceremony to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the upgrading of the university both online and offline.

Government officials and school leaders attended the ceremony, which was presided over by Le Chuanyong, Vice Secretary of the CPC Committee and President of Taizhou University. Former school leaders, including Jiang Chengyong, Chen Hao, Pan Zhangde, Chen Guangting, sent congratulatory letters and videos to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the school's upgrading.

Cui Fengjun, Secretary of the CPC Committee of Taizhou University, made a keynote speech with the theme of "striving ahead, carrying forward the past and opening up the future, and striving to create a new pattern for the development of an application-oriented university". He summarized and reviewed the achievements of the school's various undertakings in the past 20 years from eight aspects, including its comprehensive strength, qualification for awarding master's degree, discipline construction, talent training, scientific research, talent introduction and education, and local service. Cui Fengjun pointed out that we will further build a university-city symbiotic development community. In the next 10-15 years, we will strive to build a high-level application-oriented university that is first-class in China and has a good reputation in the world with the goal of "upgrading, applying for the qualification of awarding doctoral degree and creating a first-class university".

Li Changming, Vice Mayor of Taizhou, said in his speech that the municipal party committee and the municipal government attach great importance to education and focus on supporting Taizhou University to build a first-class application-oriented university. As an important window of higher education in Taizhou, the century-old Taizhou University has been successfully approved as a master's degree awarding unit. Li Changming hopes that the university will firmly grasp the strategic opportunity, take root in the land of Taizhou, deepen the connotation construction, and make contributions to Taizhou's new development in private economy.

At the ceremony, Cui Fengjun presented a thank-you nameplate to the leaders of Jiaojiang District and Linhai City, where the school is located, and Le Chuanyong presented souvenirs to the alumni representatives. The former school leaders jointly lit the beacon of integrated development of Taizhou University.

Before and after the ceremony, TU also held a series of activities to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the school's upgrading and the 115th anniversary of running school.
