On January 12, the latest ESI university ranking was released. Taizhou University’s material science entered the top 1% of ESI global discipline, which is the second top 1% of the world's discipline after TU's chemistry discipline entered the top 1% in November 2021.

In recent years, the university has attached great importance to discipline construction and landmark achievements, strengthened the integration of discipline resources, actively explored the path of integrating discipline development into the development of local, industrial and urban areas, highlighted the leading position of discipline in the development of the university, and strengthened the connotation construction of discipline. In recent years, the supporting role of disciplines in talent training, scientific research and social services has become increasingly prominent.

ESI is the abbreviation of Essential Science Indicators. It is an analytical database established by Clarivate on the basis of collecting and analyzing the academic documents included in the core collection of Web of Science and the references cited. The data published in this issue is the statistical data from January 1, 2012 to October 31, 2022, provided by the school library. The data shows that our university has 3664 papers in total, with 42104 citations, up 48 places from the last global ranking.
