In order to further improve the mental health level of our students, the university has recently organized a series of mental health education activities for college students.

20 Years’ Companying, 20 Years’ Love

Taking the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the university’s Mental Health Education and Counseling Center as an opportunity, the 19th mental health education activity month with the theme of “20 Years’ Companying, 20 Years’ Love” was organized from March to April. More than 30 activities, such as psychological behavior experience, psychological theme class meeting, psychological knowledge picture exhibition, psychological theme film exhibition, were conducted to popularize mental health knowledge and enhance college students’ mental health awareness. All kinds of activities were varied in forms and rich in content, close to the actual life of students. Students actively participated in these activities and learned the power of trust and care from the educational experience.

Four Protecting Lines, Four Layers’ Love

In order to strengthen the relevance and effectiveness of psychological crisis intervention, we organized a training for psychological crisis intervention “gatekeepers”, and conducted a training for counselors, head-teachers, housekeepers, security personnel, psychological committee members, dormitory managers, and so on which include “the practice of heart-to-heart talk” and “early identification and intervention of psychological crisis”. More than 1200 teachers and students attended the training. Meanwhile, the implementation of the full-time counselor grid service mechanism for secondary colleges and schools serves to provide support services for the construction of secondary psychological counseling stations and mental health education in each college or school so as to effectively consolidate the four lines of linkage network to ensure the physical and mental health of students in all aspects.

Hospital-University Coordination, Better Health Protection

“Hospital-University Coordination” is a great feature of Taizhou University psychological work. The university has invited psychologists and psychiatrists from the Taizhou Second People’s Hospital to be on weekly duty on campus. Meanwhile, the university continuously strengthens the cooperation with off-campus medical institutions for teacher training and arranges for new full-time psychological counselors to carry out a two-year clinical internship in specialized hospitals, which effectively enhances their practice ability and professional competence.

Heart to Heart, Grow up Together

The Mental Health Education and Counseling Center holds a series of activities called “Heart to Heart”, organizing several sessions on the themes of “relieving the anxiety of interviewing in graduate entrance examination” and “feeling the charm of psychology”. Senior mental health experts are invited to attend these sessions and provide their advice on adolescent puzzles. The center arranges mental health experts to enter School of Medicine and provide their counseling. “Heart to Heart” sessions have always insisted on the concept of common growing-up and peer support for teachers and students and met with them in various forms such as salons and forums to discuss topics of common concern, enhance communication, and promote common growing-up.

Heart Tells, Mental Problems Leaves

In order to help students better understand mental illness and promote and publicize psychological help-seeking channels from multiple perspectives, the Mental Health Education and Counseling Center holds eight sessions of the second season of “Heart Tells” series from April to May with the theme of “Don’t Avoid Psychological Distress, Seek Help Actively”. These mental health seminars are one of the brand activities of the “Heart” series created by the university’s Mental Health Education and Counseling Center. These seminars take the “one theme per season” lecture format, bringing mental health expertise to life and making mental health education activities daily to help students build a positive attitude of life and study.

Heart will Shine, Happiness will Go on

“Heart will Shine” is another activity of the “Heart” series created by the Mental Health Education and Counseling Center based on the actual mental health situation of students in our university. On April 15, the activity of “Heart will Shine”, with the theme of “tailoring friendship, stitching poetry”, attracted more than 600 students from various schools of the university. The event was a unique way for students to release their mental stress, experience the resonance of emotions and words, and help them build up an optimistic attitude and a positive and sunny mental health.
