University volunteers for the Asian Games torch relay selected

From June 7 to June 25, the selection process for city volunteers for the torch relay activities of the 19th Asian Games in Taizhou was successfully concluded. Nearly 1,000 students from Jiaojiang campus of Taizhou University enthusiastically participated in the registration process, and ultimately, 240 volunteers passed the interviews and were successfully chosen.

Following the overall recruitment plan of the Torch Relay Command Center of the Hangzhou Asian Games General Command, the school’s league committee organized training sessions for interviewers and staff prior to the interviews. This ensured that the selection process was well-organized, the procedures were standardized, and the tasks were carried out with high quality, guaranteeing the selection of volunteers who met the required criteria through rigorous testing.

The selection process was conducted in batches by secondary colleges. The heads of each college, along with counseling teachers and the head of the Youth Volunteer Association, served as interviewers. Through various assessment methods such as brief introductions, on-site Q&A, situational simulations, and English dialogues, the volunteer candidates’ image etiquette, English proficiency, volunteer service experience, psychological resilience, and overall competence were thoroughly evaluated.

During the interviews, the candidates enthusiastically shared their professional skills, competitive advantages, and rich experiences in volunteer services while responding to questions, such as “What motivated you to participate in this activity?” and “How would you manage unexpected situations?

After the preliminary selection, a total of 587 volunteers progressed to the interview stage. Among them were student leaders, retired soldiers, individuals proficient in multiple languages, and participants of international marathons and other major sports events. Chen Yong from the Business School of Taizhou University expressed his excitement, stating, “As a member of the school’s Youth association, I hope to enhance my practical abilities and overall qualities through this volunteer service. I am fully dedicated and enthusiastic about contributing my youthful energy to the success of the Asian Games.”

Next, the pre-selected volunteers will undergo a series of training programs prior to their official employment. These preparations aim to ensure that they meet the highest standards and possess the necessary skills to provide exceptional service, contributing their “Chinese Feature, Asian Style, Fantastic Performance” youth power to the success of the Asian Games.
