New journey begins with anticipation. On September 9th, Taizhou University’s Jiaojiang and Linhai campuses simultaneously carried out the new student welcoming work. 4888 undergraduate and graduate students from all over the country gathered at the university campuses, embarking on a new life as TUers.
Sincere Care from “Senior Family Heads”
On the day of receiving new students, the leaders of the university’s party committee, such as the party secretary Cui Fengjun, the deputy party secretary and president Le Chuanyong, and the deputy party secretary Jin Xianlong, led the team to inspect and guide the new students’ registration work at both campuses. They visited the new students and their parents.
“How do you feel about coming to Taizhou University?” “Where are you from?” “What are your expectations for college life?” … The university leaders had friendly exchanges with the new students and their parents, asking them about their hometowns, majors, hobbies, and encouraging them to actively plan their university life, study hard, and develop comprehensively, so as to become young people with loyalty, dedication, enterprising spirit, and cooperative qualities in the new era.
The sincere care from the “senior family heads” quickly narrowed the distance between the teachers and students, and the new students gradually integrated into the big family of Taizhou University in the warm atmosphere. When asked about their first impressions on the university, the most frequent response from the new students was “everyone is very warm-hearted”.
It is understood that the university attaches great importance to the work of receiving new students, holding meetings multiple times to thoroughly discuss and deploy, scientifically and meticulously arrange, and various units have cooperated with each other. The work, conducted both online and offline,covered from reception to check-in, ensuring that the receiving work is warm-hearted, considerate, efficient, safe, and orderly.
The Welcoming Ceremony of the “New Family”
To welcome the new students, each faculty has made great efforts and preparations, by innovating forms and preparing various welcoming activities,to make sure that the new students who come to register can feel the warm welcoming atmosphere and sense of belonging as soon as possible.
The School of Foreign Languages prepared ticket-shaped placards, and the new students held slogan signs with interesting slogans like “The sky is crying blue as I’m waiting for you at the School of Foreign Languages”, happily taking photos with teachers and parents. The School of Medicine used heart-shaped new student albums as the base, setting up a signing wall for the new students, attracting many freshmen to sign and leave a commemoration. The flash mob activity of the School of Art and Design was wonderful, with beautiful music echoing on the campus, making the students observe and pause involuntarily. In addition, there were various and distinctive commemorative gifts from different faculties, as well as selfie placards carefully designed by teachers and students, saying “I miss you at Taizhou University”, which all surprised the new students who met the university for the first time.
“I was a little nervous at first about starting college life. But after coming to the university and meeting the friendly teachers and warm-hearted seniors, and experiencing the welcoming ceremony, I immediately felt at ease. Now, I am really looking forward to the upcoming days.” said Wu Ruotong from Class 2 of English 2023.
The Heartwarming Temperature of the “Red Vests”
From early morning, you can see a group of people wearing bright red vests shuttling in every corner, providing “one-stop” services such as station pickup, campus guidance, new students receiving registration, accommodation services, and green channels. They all share a common name, called “new students receiving volunteers”.
At the train station, they held up signs and searched for the new students among the crowd. At the university gate, they took over the luggage from the new students and reduced their burden. At the information desk, they patiently answered questions from the new students, making the registration process smoother…
For the new students, these “red vests”were like a refreshing breeze, sweeping away their fatigue from the journey. From being unfamiliar to familiar, from confusion to peace of mind, the warmth of Taizhou University is hidden in these small details. When asked, one of the volunteers smiled and said, “I remember the day when I came here and registered last year, it was the seniors who showed me around and made me feel at home. Now that I have become a senior, I can help the freshmen. It makes me feel great.”
