Graduate education officially commences

On September 9, Taizhou University’s first 99 master’s students completed their registration, marking the official start of the university’s graduate education.

On the afternoon of the registration day, Jin Xianlong, the Vice Secretary of the University Party Committee, visited graduate students’dormitories. “Where is your hometown?” “Which university did you attend for your undergraduate studies?” “How do you find the dormitory environment?” “Have you encountered any difficulties since coming to Taizhou University?” When Jin entered the students’ dormitory, he cordially asked about the newcomers’ basic information, their experiences at the university, and any difficulties they encountered. He chatted with the students about life and dreams, bridging the gap between the university and the new students, and strengthening the connection between the university and the students. During the visit, Jin pointed out that the graduate stage is a crucial period for solidifying knowledge foundations, training practical skills, enhancing innovation ability, and forming distinctive brands. It is a critical period for in-depth theoretical study and advanced research building upon undergraduate studies. He hopes that students will cherish their time, set clear goals, work hard in their studies, and strive for innovation. He encouraged them to hold themselves to the standards of the first batch students of “Whampoa Military Academy” and make the first stride in the university’s graduate student development, accumulating strength for their long-term development and contributing to the progress of the university.

On September 10th and 11th, Zhao Xiaoming, the University Party Committee member and Vice President, conducted on-site guidance on the work of graduate student orientation education and teaching arrangements. Zhao listened to reports from the Discipline Construction and Graduate Management Department (Graduate Work Department) regarding graduate student ideological and political education, professional education, and daily teaching arrangements. He emphasized that graduate education is different from undergraduate education, especially for professional master’s students. Throughout the whole process of talent cultivation, the characteristics of professional master’s programs should be considered. The support role of Taizhou industries, the guiding role of the “1139 Science and Technology Team”, as well as the guarantee role of the “Dual Mentor System”,incultivating professional master’s talents, should be fully utilized. It is necessary to strengthen the connection with local industries, integrate into industries, serve industries, fully implement the cultivation and training of professional practical abilities, and actively cultivate a model of professional master’s talent development.

On September 10th, the Discipline Construction and Graduate Management Department (Graduate Work Department) organized all the new graduate students of the 2023 grade to visit the University History Museum and the Dachen Island Reclamation Studies Center. They also arranged a series of educational activities, including the interpretation of the rules and regulations for master’s degree students, psychological health education, fraud prevention education, fire safety education, and library information resources and database training. These activities allowed each new student to have a comprehensive understanding of the university on the first day of schooling, ensuring that graduate student education began smoothly, orderly, and following established standards.

A total of 99 master’s students (including 3 soldiers under the “Retired Soldiers as College Students” special program) have registered for the 2023 grade in Taizhou University. Among them, there are 30 students in the Mechanical Engineering discipline, 40 students in the Materials and Chemical Engineering discipline, and 29 students in the Resources and Environment discipline. They come from 58 universities in 16 provinces across the country, including 2 students from national “Double First-Rate” universities and 17 students from provincially renowned universities.
