Taizhou University’s Chinese Classics Recitation Activity successfully conducted

On the evening of September 17, Taizhou University’s Chinese Classics Recitation Activity of the 26th National Putonghua Promotion Week, themed “Promoting Putonghua and Striving Forward on a New Journey”, were successfully held at the Linhai Campus Auditorium. The recitation activity was hosted by the Teaching Affairs Department of the university, organized by the School of Humanities, and co-organized by Jin Niya Workshop, Wenling Recitation Association, Taizhou Teachers’ Recitation Art Troupe, Feng Ya Song Reading Society, GC Drama Society, and the like. Li Junmin, Member of the CPC Committee and Vice President of Taizhou University, Jin Song, Member of the CPC Committee and Director of the Publicity Department of Taizhou University, leaders and teachers from various functional departments and the School of Humanities attended the recitation activity, and some students from secondary schools of Linhai Campus participated in this event.

In her speech, Li Junmin introduced that this event, with the theme of “Promoting Putonghua and Striving Forward on a New Journey”, takes “focusing on key points, popularizing comprehensively, and consolidating and improving” as the general policy of Putonghua promotion work, and propagating and implementing the spirit of the 20th Party Congress as the main content, implementing the fundamental task of moral education, fully playing the exemplary role of advanced collectives and individuals, increasing the promotion of the national common language and literacy, and promoting the high-quality development of language and literacy in the new era. She pointed out that the teacher Jin Niya led the project team to help nearly 300 students from more than ten countries improve their abilities in Chinese poetry recitation, storytelling, and oral communication through a series of video courses, promoting the deep experience of Chinese Hehe Culture by overseas learners, and foreign cultural exchanges and cultural mutual learning.

The recitation activity was divided into two parts: “Classic Inheriting” and “Youth Cheering”. In the “Classic Inheriting” part, Feng Ya Reading Society and He Yunxi brought everyone the famous ancient pieces such as “Jianjia”, “Mulan Ci”, “Jiang Jin Jiu”, “Ni Xing Lu Nan”, and so forth. Schoolmates Wu Yuxin and Zheng Yujia, together with Chen Ying and Hu Yixuan gave “Spring River Flower Moon Night”, which depicted the spring river tide, the moon above the sea, the frost of flowers and trees, and the dreamlike nocturne flowing picture. The teacher Cheng Xiangrong from the School of Humanities sang “Light Boat Has Passed Thousands of Mountains” in “Early Departure from Baidi City”. In the “Youth Cheering” part, the invited guest Qu Ziyu’s “Late” performed the dream of childhood. Du Xu, an outstanding alumnus of the School of Teacher Education, infected every student present with his “My Heart”. On the 100th anniversary of the publication of Lu Xun’s “Shout”, Wenling Recitation Association specially selected “Blessing”, “Kong Yiji”, and “Hometown” written by Lu Xun to pay tribute to the classics. Chen Xiao, Liu Jinfei from Taizhou Teachers’ Recitation Art Troupe brought the recitation “Waiting”, which vividly reappeared Deng Jiaxian’s life of dedication, and expressed respect for his wife Xu Luxi. Finally, international students from Taizhou University and students from Feng Ya Reading Society rode on the “horse of ideals”, advancing towards the glorious future with a song “Ideal”.

This event enriched the language and cultural life of teachers and students, enhanced their awareness of language norms, improved the students’ language literacy and application level, and enhanced the sense of identity and pride of the Chinese nation. It is hoped that all teachers and students will join hands to continue to participate in language and literacy promotion practice activities, jointly build the Chinese dream of language and literacy, promote Putonghua together, and strive forward on a new journey.
