No sports, no youth. On the morning of October 26, the grand opening ceremony of the 33rd Track and Field Meet of Taizhou University was held on Jiaojiang Campus. Le Chuanyong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and President of Taizhou University, delivered a speech and announced the opening of the sports meeting. The ceremony was presided by Li Junmin, Member of the CPC Committee and Vice President of Taizhou University. Present at the opening ceremony were university leaders including Pan Tongtian, Jin Xianlong, Zhao Xiaoming, Wang Zheng, Li Weiming, Yang Jianguo and Jin Song.
Sports bear the dream of national prosperity and rejuvenation, which is closely related to people’s happiness and national future. In the reply to the Champion Class of graduate students at Beijing Sport University, President Xi Jinping encouraged them to compete tenaciously for the glory of the country, which greatly inspired the students. “Our university has always attached great importance to the development of sports, making it a top priority in cultivating socialist builders and successors.” President Le said, “The sports meeting is a good opportunity to gather ideas, inspire people and boost morale as well as an important platform to enhance exchanges, pool strength and promote development. I hope that all athletes can take this sports meeting as an opportunity to carry forward the concept of Hangzhou Asian Games, and compete tenaciously for better results with the spirit of ‘Higher, Faster and Stronger’. All the referees and staff are expected to make fair judgments and provide earnest services so as to guarantee its orderly manner. All the teachers and students are to join in the competition with more passion, a higher morale, and a more pragmatic style, playing the strongest voice in building a first-class application-oriented university with a good reputation in the world.”
Zhou Shihao from the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Zheng Nuanlei from the School of Teacher Education (Physical Education) took the oath as representatives of athletes and referees respectively.
Following the resounding and powerful “March of Athletes”, 17 teams including the national flag formation, the colorful flag team, and athletes entered the field one after another, with their neat steps and high spirit, which were warmly welcomed by the audience. Their unique creativity and exciting performances have infected every audience, receiving endless cheers and applause.
After the opening ceremony, a “leading group” consisting of university leaders, relevant leaders from various secondary schools and functional departments, as well as members of the organizing committee, led hundreds of student representatives to start “Sunshine Long-distance Running” for the 2023-2024 academic year.
It is reported that the sports meet will last for 2 days, with 3 participating groups, namely the secondary school group, administrative group, and affiliated unit group. There will be 17 male student events, 17 female student events, 6 student collective and fun events, as well as 5 teacher fun events, so that both teachers and students can share the sports fun through joint participation.
