The final of the 2023 Campus “Golden Microphone” Host Contest, entitled “Chasing Dream Sound, Voices from the Future”, was successfully held at the Student Activity Center at Linhai Campus on the evening of November 25th. Jin Niya, an associate professor from the School of Humanities, and Wang Peilei and Liu Lijuan from the University Youth League Committee, served as the judges.
After a series of selection, 12 contestants from various second-level schools stood out from over 400 participants from both campuses and made it to the final stage. The final consisted of four segments: talent showcase, co-hosting with a partner, individual hosting, and impromptu speech. In the talent showcase segment, each contestant appeared one by one and introduced themselves, showcasing their eloquence and charismatic demeanor. In the co-hosting segment, the contestants teamed up in pairs to present a spectacular auditory feast. In the individual hosting segment, contestants displayed their hosting abilities in unique ways, expressing their praise for national prosperity, memories of youth, and recommendation for hometown cuisine, etc. In the impromptu speech segment, the contestants gave speeches on selected topics, fully displaying their adaptability and cultural knowledge as hosts.
After fierce competition, Ban Houxuan from Class 1, Chinese Language and Literature (Teacher Education) of 2022, won the first prize; Wu Ziyu from Class 2, Chinese Language and Literature of 2021, and Qiu Yu from Class 1, Musicology of 2023, won the second prize; Xu Tong from Class 6, Nursing of 2023, Fu Fan from Class 2, Primary School Education of 2022, and Liu Jiajia from Class 2, Musicology of 2023, won the third prize; Yang Jiaomei from Class 2, English Language and Literature of 2023, and Liu Jiajia from Class 2, Musicology of 2023, received the Best Popularity Award.
Jin Niya, representing the judges, provided individual comments and guidance on each contestant’s performance in each segment. She praised the contestants’ language expression abilities and the overall completeness of their stage presentations. She emphasized that the self-introduction needs to be logical and highlight key points. She also highlighted the need for creative program design, good coordination between co-hosts, the completeness of performances, and the suitability of the speech content and host attire, emphasizing the importance of the sense of ritual. The contestants expressed that they benefited significantly from this event.
The “Golden Microphone” Host Contest is a brand event of TU’s campus culture. It provides a platform for students who love hosting to showcase themselves and give voice to their dreams. It has discovered and cultivated many outstanding campus hosts, thus contributing to the vigorous development of campus cultural activities.
