The 8th Fire Extinguisher Graffiti Competition of Taizhou University was held in the university’s Linhai and Jiaojiang campuses days ago. The theme of the competition was “Painting Fire Extinguishers, Acquiring Safety Knowledge”. A total of 787 preliminary works were collected for this event. After selection, 43 groups of players entered the final. They used their brushes and exquisite painting techniques to paint beautiful patterns on the time-honored fire extinguishers.
Using fire extinguishers as “canvases”, the competition encouraged participants to take anti-fraud, anti-drug, fire safety and other safety knowledge as themes, combine colorful patterns and fire extinguishers, and create unique graffiti works, so as to make fire extinguishers come alive. After a 3-hour on-site painting, the fire extinguishers were graffitied into various images: from firefighters who went to the fire without hesitation to cartoon fire extinguishers, from white bones tortured by drugs to poppies with warning lines, from vivid and interesting anti-fraud newspapers to scammers with grim faces. The works of the contestants not only showed high artistic value, but also spread safety knowledge.
After fierce competition, which included judges’ scoring and online and offline voting, six works, such as “Forging Ahead” by Shen-Zeng Sitong on Jiaojiang campus and “Sincerely for Life” by Li Jingyuan on Linhai campus, won the first prize, and the other works won the second and third prizes respectively.
The competition aims to let more people understand fire safety through the power of art, improve students’ awareness of prevention, and ignite the “spark” of yearning for learning safety knowledge through the collision between fire safety and art.
