On the afternoon of December 31, the 2023 Awarding Ceremony of Taizhou High School Students’ English Speech Contest was held in Room A6 of Linhai Campus, and was broadcast live through Wangchao client line. Wang Zheng, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Taizhou University, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. Wang Gang, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, Li Tao, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Foreign Languages, and Cui Ruiguo, Member of the Party Committee of the School of Foreign Languages, presented awards to the winning teachers and students. Li Binbin, Member of the Party Committee of the School of Foreign Languages, spoke on behalf of the judges of the competition.

With the theme of “Promoting Traditional Culture and Endeavoring Youth Power”, the contest was organized by Taizhou News and Media Center, School of Foreign Languages of Taizhou University, and Taizhou Education and Teaching Research Institute. The competition was launched in May 2023. After the preliminary rounds, rematches and final rounds of screening, a total of 48 high school students were awarded first, second and third prizes, 124 received “the Excellence Award”, 44 teachers won the “Excellent Instructor Award”, and 2 schools the “Excellent Organization Award”.

As one of the organizers, the School of Foreign Languages worked closely with Taizhou News and Media Center to prepare for the awarding ceremony of this competition. The leadership of the academic school attached great importance to it by setting up a special working group on it with the participation of all the faculty and staff, and mobilizing student volunteers, which provided a guarantee for the successful conclusion of the ceremony. It was highly praised by the participants and recognized by the cooperative units.

After it, the academic school also held the Secondary School English Education Forum and the Business English Teaching Forum at the same time, which greatly enhanced the reputation of the school and the atmosphere of teaching and research, promoted the education and teaching level of the relevant majors of the school, improved the quality of talent cultivation, and laid a solid foundation for deepening the teaching of social practice for the majors of English education and business English.
