Three undergraduate-level vocational education programs newly added

Three undergraduate-level vocational education programs have been recently added to Taizhou University (TU)’s enrollment program list. As per the notification of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China regarding the filing results of the planned enrollment programs for vocational education at the undergraduate level in 2024 (Education Office Letter [2024] No. 11), the new programs include Mechanical Design, Manufacturing, and Automation, Materials Forming and Control Engineering, and Pharmaceutical Engineering Technology, students of which will be jointly enrolled and cultivated by TU, Taizhou Vocational and Technical College, and Taizhou Vocational College of Science & Technology.

Undergraduate-level vocational education focuses on high-quality development and aligns with modern industrial system to ensure a close connection between program accommodation and industry demands, course content and professional standards, as well as teaching processes and production processes. This connection aims to effectively link students’ skills with market demands, thereby establishing a talent chain closely intertwined with the industrial chain and innovation chain.

In recent years, TU has been coordinating innovative vocational education and higher education, as well as promoting the integration of vocational and general education, industry and education, and science and education. These efforts aim to optimize vocational education, enhance its quality, improve the adaptability of diverse talent cultivation, and deeply implement the concept of “a community of a shared future, interests, and striving efforts” within the campus and the city. The university is intensifying its efforts to serve the local community, focusing on the actual demand for high-level skilled personnel in regional economic and social development. It is guiding and promoting the development of local undergraduate vocational education programs.

In addition to the three new undergraduate vocational education programs mentioned above, TU is currently collaborating with four other schools, namely, Lihai Senior Vocational School (Preschool Education), Huangyan First Vocational and Technical School (Materials Forming and Control Engineering), Lihai Secondary Vocational and Technical School (Materials Forming and Control Engineering), and Yuhuan Secondary Vocational and Technical School (Mechanical Electronic Engineering), to offer 3+4 “Secondary Vocational School and University Integration” professional enrollment programs. Two programs—Civil Engineering (Lihai Senior Vocational School) and Road, Bridge and River-crossing Engineering (Luqiao Secondary Vocational and Technical School)—are currently undergoing provincial filing applications.
