The 2024 Commencement Ceremony of Taizhou University was held at the Jiaojiang campus from June 20th to 21st. 4,128 graduates, filled with achievements and joy, stood ready to embark on their journeys in the vast expanse of the world.

The ceremony was attended by 11 university leaders who took their seats on the podium, including Zhu Jian, Le Chuanyong, Li Junmin, Lou Danqun, Yang Jianguo, Han Deman, Xiang Fengri, Li Jianjun, Cai Haijiang, Zheng Lijun, Wu Yinyin.

Bachelor’s Degree Awarding Ceremony

University leaders awarded some graduates the title of “Excellent Graduates of Zhejiang Province”, presented sashes and appointment letters to representatives of “Taizhou University Alumni Liaison Ambassador”, performed academic cap tassel-moving ceremony on graduates, conferred degrees on them, and presented them with graduation gifts.

The graduation ceremony was presided over by Xiang Fengri, Deputy Secretary of the CPC TU Committee and Deputy Chairman of the Bachelor’s Degree Evaluation Committee. Li Jianjun, Deputy Chairman of the Bachelor’s Degree Evaluation Committee and Vice President and Member of the CPC Standing Committee of TU, read the decision on conferring bachelor’s degrees and the appointment documents for “Excellent Graduates of Zhejiang Province”, “Outstanding Graduates of Taizhou University”, and “Taizhou University Alumni Liaison Ambassador”.

A total of 4128 graduates from the Class of 2024 were awarded bachelor’s degrees. Among them, 165 graduates were awarded the title of “Outstanding Graduates of Ordinary Colleges and Universities in Zhejiang Province”, 465 received the title of “Outstanding Graduates of Taizhou University”, and 124 were appointed as “Alumni Ambassadors of Taizhou University”.

Speech by Le Chuanzheng

On behalf of the university, Le Chuanzheng, President and Deputy Secretary of the CPC TU Committee, extended the sincerest congratulations and best wishes to all the graduates of 2024 who are about to embark on their new journeys, and delivered a “last lecture” to the graduates. He said, “Over the past four years, you have lived up to your youth and written the most splendid chapter of your youth; you have journeyed with the school and witnessed the changes of the times from beginning to end. Having you with us is the fortune of Taizhou University, and Taizhou University shines because of you!"

After leading the graduates to review the unforgettable journey at TU, Le Chuanzheng offered three hopes to the graduates:

To begin with, youngest should shoulder the responsibility given by the country, regard the needs of the country as their life creed, fulfill the responsibility and mission by the country and the times, and integrate their own efforts into the historical tide of national development, thus achieving greatness through efforts. They should shoulder the responsibilities entrusted to them by the units, regard the units as their homes and love their jobs, winning respect and recognition for their diligent and efficient work. They should shoulder the responsibilities entrusted to them by their families, learn to share joys and sorrows with their partners, and create a happy and fulfilling life together.

Besides, they should cultivate a spirit of perseverance, seize the opportunity while young, and make the most of it. Cultivate a spirit of never giving up halfway, maintain a sense of ambition and determination, and not be discouraged by difficulties or retreat in the face of setbacks. Cultivate a spirit of exploration, maintain a sense of curiosity and a desire for exploration, dare to take risks and be innovative, and strive to achieve more breakthroughs.

In addition, they are expected to keep a balanced mindset and master the basic skills; they are believed to find their own areas of expertise in the workplace and continuously enhance their “core competitiveness” so as to achieve a bright future. They are also hoped to resist temptations and endure loneliness, and steadfastly walk the path ahead, ultimately achieving a qualitative transformation.

Yang Kebo expressed his gratitude to the university, his devoted teachers and classmates. He called on everyone pursuing his dream as a high-quality applied talent with the distinctive characteristics of TU.

Speech by Jin Anzhi of Grade 2020, from the English Education Program of the School of Foreign Languages, a graduate representative from Linhai Campus

Jin Anzhi recalled the vibrant university life as bright and radiant as the rising sun. She encouraged her fellow graduates to identify themselves as TUers and pursue their life goals with unwavering determination.

Speech by Yang Zhongyi from the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, a teacher representative from Jiaojiang Campus

Yang, who is devoted to biopharmaceuticals, said that raw materials have to undergo various refinements to become valuable products with high added value. This is the same as every student’s growth. Only by going through various trials and tribulations can one become a truly useful person. He advised everyone to take a steady pace to achieve long-term success in this society full of opportunities and temptations, always staying true to oneself, honing skills, and moving forward steadily to achieve success.

Wang Hui discussed the serious issue of career choice from a philosophical perspective with the students, encouraging them to follow their hearts and find jobs they love in this challenging era, to find their place in the world, to seek the meaning of life, and to strive and fight hard to make contributions to the society!

Speech by Zhang Liang from the School of Environmental Science and Engineering of Zhejiang University of Technology, a representative of outstanding alumni

Zhang Liang recalled his four years of fulfilling and happy college life, and expressed his gratitude for the teachings and encouragement of his former teachers. He said that, under the guidance of the university motto of “Immerse yourself in ethical integrity; Arm yourself with well-timed facility”, he successfully turned his “passion” into a job that could bring joy to others. He hoped that the younger students would achieve academic success and show gratitude to TU by repaying the efforts of all those who had devoted themselves to them.

Chen Jiusu, a representative of outstanding alumni and a teacher at Linhai Foreign Languages School, along with her husband and daughter, are all TUers and recognized as “teachers in ideological and political sciences”. She advised her younger peers to love their careers and stick to their goals; to cultivate excellent habits and continue to learn and grow; and to remember the training provided by their alma mater, and give back to their younger peers. She hopes that everyone will pursue and realize their dreams with the spiritual wealth given by TU.

The 2024 TU commencement ceremony for undergraduates concluded with a grand finale of the univeristy song chorus. Graduation is both an endpoint and a starting point. May the graduates hold fast to their original dreams and return with enthusiasm!
