At the invitation of relevant universities in the United Kingdom and Germany, TU President and Deputy Secretary of the CPC TU Committee Le Chuanyong led a delegation to visit four universities in the UK and Germany from June 23rd to 30th.
At the University of Canterbury in the UK, the five-member delegation was warmly received by Vice-Chancellor Mohamed Abdel-Maguid and Director of the International Department Stephen Lamyman. Both sides conducted specific and in-depth discussions on student joint training, teacher exchange and training, scientific research cooperation, funding sources, and cost control. They reached a cooperation intention on student joint models such as “2+2”, “2+1”, “3+1+1”, and “4+1”, as well as collaborative research between teachers. It was decided to conduct more in-depth exchanges and discussions on specific issues such as cooperation models, curriculum articulation, and student selection. President Le Chuanyong welcomed leaders from the University of Canterbury to visit TU at an appropriate time.
At Royal Holloway, University of London, the delegation exchanged views with Director Rechards on teacher-student exchanges and scientific research cooperation in the field of life sciences between the two universities, and visited its beautiful campus.
At the Northern Institute of Technology Management in Germany, the delegation conducted in-depth negotiations with senior managers such as CEO Dr. Klemens Kleiminger. The German side introduced in detail the university’s disciplinary advantages, talent training quality, student employment and income, and international student tuition fees. Both sides discussed issues such as joint training of engineering and management masters, and the establishment of a master’s program in data analysis. They also reached a cooperation intention on student joint training and teacher exchange research.
At the Technical University of Berlin, President Le Chuanyong and his delegation met with Chinese students, and learned in detail about the university’s teaching and research conditions, talent training models, and industry-university-research cooperation as a strong engineering university in Germany. They introduced the development of TU and its talent introduction policies to doctoral students studying there, encouraging them to contribute to their country after completing their studies and inviting them to apply for jobs at the university.
This visit further broadened international horizons, deepened understanding of higher education in the UK and Germany, expanded channels for foreign exchange and cooperation, and laid a good foundation for enhancing the internationalization of TU.
