“Unity and Harmony” Culture, which finds its origin at Tiantai Mountain, is an important part of Chinese culture. To enhance understanding and promote exchanges, actively organized by the Publicity Department of Taizhou Municipal Party Committee, and robustly supported by the publicity departments of the party committees in Linhai, Xianju and Tiantai, TU and Chodang University jointly held the 2024 “Unity and Harmony” Culture Summer Camp from July 1st to July 7th. Chodang University sent 19 teachers and students to participate in the camp. The activities provided were wonderful. All participants gained happiness and memories.
The opening ceremony was held on the morning of July 1st. The ceremony was hosted by Wang Aiqin, Vice Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Department. Li Jianjun, Vice President and Member of the CPC Standing Committee of TU, delivered a speech at the ceremony. On behalf of the university, he welcomed Chodang teachers and students, introduced Taizhou and TU. He also mentioned Taizhou’s interaction with the Korean Peninsula and reviewed the results of 25 years of exchanges between the two universities. He emphasized that the summer camp is a significant symbol of the two universities joining hands to open a new chapter of international education, and a new channel of exploring exchanges and cooperation after the epidemic. He said that Taizhou is the symbol, practice and dissemination place of Chinese harmony culture. He hoped that all teachers and students enjoy the open and tolerant Chinese culture of unity and harmony and act as “friendship ambassadors” of China and the Republic of Korea.
At the ceremony, Prof. Jin Meiniang (Chinese name) of International Department, the leading teacher of Chodang University, sincerely thanked TU for the warm reception and thoughtful and meticulous arrangements for the summer camp team, and reviewed the significant achievements of the exchanges between the two universities from 1999 to the present. She said that the exchange activities of teachers and students will take this summer camp as a beginning to carry out more in-depth and wider exchanges and cooperation.
On behalf of all the students, Song Zhouyuan (Chinese name), a cadre of the student union of Chodang University, said that it was an honor to participate in the “Unity and Harmony” Culture activities. She thanked the teachers of the two universities for their efforts, and hoped that they could experience the life of TU, broaden their horizons, improve their education, and contribute to the promotion of exchanges.
At the meeting, Li Jianjun, on behalf of the Publicity Department of Taizhou Municipal Party Committee, presented all the teachers and students of Chodang University with “Unity and Harmony” fans, hoping to bring coolness to every teacher and student in the hot summer.
After the opening ceremony, accompanied by the International Exchange and Cooperation Department of TU, the teachers and students of Chodang University visited TU History Museum. When they saw the photos of the scene of the signing of the sisterhood agreement between the two universities in 1999 and saw the gifts reflecting Korean folklore from Chodang University, they all marveled at the indestructible deep friendship forged by the two sides’ hand-in-hand efforts.
Chodang Teachers and students entered the “Harmony of Taizhou—Wang Bo Calligraphy Exhibition” and appreciated more than 50 pieces of works by Prof. Wang Bo. These works vary in presentation but center on Unity and Harmony Culture, such as the copy of poems by Cold Mountain, as well as the poems and fugues of celebrities who have sung about Taizhou in the past generations.
In the afternoon, teachers and students of Chodang University visited the large-scale drone showroom, the net red airplane and the scientific research laboratory, and listened to Prof. Wang Yun’s lecture on “Drones: Application and Development”. Prof. Wang introduced the concepts, characteristics and classifications related to drones, as well as the history, current situation and future of development, pointing out that the development of drones is expected to open the era of mass aviation, so that the original intention of aviation that mankind has ever wanted to fly is expected to be realized. To truly realize the entry of drones into ordinary people’s homes, it is necessary to achieve the low-cost of the drones in terms of design, manufacturing, materials and large-scale, modular production, etc. At present, Shenzhen City of China has initially realized the operation of drone as “flying taxis” with the cost comparable to that of ground transportation.
In the evening, TU organized a welcome banquet in the staff dining hall, where the teachers and students from Chodang University, and TU’s International Exchange and Cooperation Department and School of Intelligent Manufacturing gathered to make and taste dumplings. During the dumpling banquet, the teachers and students danced Korean and Bengalese dances, sang Belarusian songs, and took part in the games of “Golden Chicken Standing on One Foot” and “Grab Cups” actively.
