Clarivate Analytics announced the latest ESI data for July 2024. TU’s two disciplines, viz. Engineering and Botany and Zoology, have been newly ranked among the top 1% of ESI disciplines in the world. So far, a total of 6 disciplines of TU have entered the top 1% of ESI global ranking. The other 4 are Chemistry, Materials Science, Environment/Ecology, and Clinical Medicine.
TU ranks the 7th among colleges and universities of its kind in Zhejiang Province in terms of the number of ESI disciplines entering the top 1%. There are 460 colleges and universities from the mainland of China which get its ESI disciplines ranking the top 1%. TU ranks the 141th among all the colleges and universities entering the ESI ranking and ranks the 2nd among the institutions of its kind. According to the data released for this round, while a total of 7 engineering disciplines of mainland universities have newly entered the top 1% of ESI global ranking disciplines, the discipline Plant and Zoology from TU is the only one that has been newly added to the ESI ranking.
TU has established the leading position of discipline construction, taking the in-depth construction of disciplines as the key, and giving full play to the driving role of advantageous and characteristic disciplines and the leadership of high-level talents. The university has integrated the construction of disciplines and degree programs, and constantly improved the service capacity of disciplines. These efforts have achieved a lot in the degree programs accommodation and the selection of first-class disciplines in Zhejiang Province.
TU’s disciplines listed in the ESI Global Top 1%
The data showed that in the past ten years, TU has published 4,461 ESI-indexed papers, accruing a total of 62,368 citations, with an average of 13.98 citations per paper. Of the 4,461 papers published, there have been 112 top papers, including 109 highly cited papers and 11 hot papers. In the past ten years, 348 ESI-indexed papers, including 9 top papers and 8 highly cited papers, have been published in the field of Engineering. These papers have received a total of 3601 citations, with an average of 10.35 citations per paper. 266 ESI-indexed papers, including 1 top paper and 4 highly cited papers, have been published in the field of Botany and Zoology. These papers have accrued a total of 3135 citations, with an average of 11.79 citations per paper.
In recent years, the Department of Science and Technology, the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Department of Discipline Construction and Graduate Management, the Library and the relevant second-level schools have cooperated with each other to strengthen the digging and monitoring of the data of ESI papers, so as to promote the successive advancement of TU’s ESI disciplines.
