Professor Sergey Borisovich Berikov, former president of Zaporozhye National Polytechnic University of Ukraine, led a delegation and visited TU on October 14. Yang Jiankuo, Vice President and Member of the CPC TU Committee, met the delegation and participated in the cooperation and exchange meeting hosted by Xu Yuanhong, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the School of Pharmaceutical and Chemical Engineering. Feng Gencong from Taizhou Science and Technology Bureau, Li Changhua from Taizhou Baicui Science and Technology Service Co., Ltd, and those in charge of TU’s Teaching Affairs Department, Science and Technology Department, School of Pharmaceutical and Chemical Engineering, International Exchange and Cooperation Department, Personnel Department attended the meeting.

Yang Jianguo, on behalf of TU, expressed his warm welcome to the delegation. He introduced Taizhou and the history and education of TU to the guests. He pointed out that TU has a long history of school-running, and has gained accreditation as a master’s degree-granting unit with a complete range of disciplines, among which chemistry, materials science and other six disciplines have been listed in the top 1% of the ESI global ranking. He indicated that TU and the Zaporozhye National Polytechnic University of Ukraine share numerous compatible disciplines; hence, there is a wide range of cooperation space. He expected both sides to take this visit as an opportunity to deepen understanding and carry out practical and effective cooperation in faculty and student exchanges as well as academic and research exchanges.

Sergey Borisovich Berikov expressed his gratitude for the hospitality of TU and introduced the city of Zaporozhye and Zaporozhye National Polytechnic University. He said that Zaporozhye National Polytechnic University and TU are close to each other in terms of professional background, and both sides have a wide range of prospects for cooperation in the field of science and technology. Zaporozhye National Polytechnic University vigorously develops international cooperation programs and hopes to establish stable and long-term friendly cooperation with TU.

At the meeting, Yang Jianguo and Sergey Borisovich Berikov signed the cooperation framework agreement on behalf of TU and Zaporozhye National Polytechnic University respectively. Representatives of both sides discussed and reached a consensus on joint training of doctoral students, construction of international joint laboratories, mutual assignment of teachers, personnel training and other aspects.

After the meeting, the delegation of Zaporozhye National Polytechnic University, accompanied by leaders of Taizhou Science and Technology Bureau, and TU’s Science and Technology Department and School of Pharmaceutical and Chemical Engineering, visited the Liquid Flowmeter Calibration Laboratory, Mass Spectrometry Analyzer Laboratory and other laboratories, and listened to the introduction of the innovative team members to understand the conversion of scientific and technological achievements, the university-industry-research cooperative projects and the national scientific research projects. The delegation learned about the invention and patent transfer of the School of Pharmaceutical and Chemical Engineering, the practice of 1139 Science and Technology Service Teams and the awards of national competitions as well.
