Recently, the Education Working Committee of Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee has announced the fourth batch of provincial university party-building cultivation units. Our university party committee was selected as a provincial party-building model university cultivation unit, the party committee of the School of Pharmaceutical and Chemical Engineering as a party-building benchmark department, the teacher party branch of environmental ecology engineering in the School of Life Sciences and that of electronics in the School of Electronics and Information Engineering as model branches, and the first student party branch of the School of Materials Science and Engineering as a model branch for graduate students. So far, the university party committee has won a total of 13 party-building honors of provincial level and above, including 3 state-level honors and 1 provincial-level comprehensive party-building honor.

The university party committee fully implements the overall requirements of party-building in the new era, always adheres to and strengthens the party’s comprehensive leadership over the university, and fulfills the responsibilities of managing the party and running the school. It focuses on steering the direction, managing the overall situation, making decisions, managing the leadership, leading the team and ensuring the implementation. Efforts should be made to build a better party-building work system featuring strong party leadership, a more rigorous organizational system, closer in linkage and coordination, remarkable results in integrated development, and high-quality and efficient operation guarantee. Adhering to the guidance of political construction and taking moral education as the foundation, the university deepens the competition against the benchmark, and strengthens the development of schools and departments by party-building work. It vigorously promotes the six major projects of “political red engine, cultivation of talents’ hearts and souls, overcoming challenges by improving internal quality, team training and upgrading, strengthening the foundation of party-building and improving its quality, and safeguarding a clean and honest university.” Striving to the practice of grassroots organizational reform of “building branches on teams,” the related party-building work of the university has been reported more than 60 times by such mainstream media as Guangming Daily, China Education Daily, Xinhua News, and Zhejiang TV. Adhering to the concept of “First-class Party-building Leading to High-quality Development,” the university deepens the “four integrations,” strengthens the “four adherences,” and focuses on the construction of the “four types of Taizhou University.” Highlighting the orientations of politics, goal, problem and demonstration, it is firmly rooted in Taizhou to run a university, giving full play the advantages of university-city symbiosis and vigorously promoting the integration of education, science and technology, and talent cultivation. Efforts have been made to build a benchmark for local application-oriented universities and vigorously cultivate high-quality application-oriented talents with “patriotism, pioneering spirit, and solid skills.”

Grassroots party organizations promote high-quality development of the cause with high-quality party-building work

The Party Committee of the School of Pharmaceutical and Chemical Engineering has comprehensively consolidated the new consensus of “holding the banner to stabilize the school,” explored the new path of “developing the school with talent teams,” and improved the new achievements of “strengthening the school with professional disciplines.” A new model of “enriching the school with social services” has been fully launched to vigorously implement the red engine project of “integration and fusion.” It has won more than ten party-building honors such as a provincial typical case of school-enterprise-local party-building joint construction in universities and an advanced unit for “three talent-cultivation.”

The teacher party branch of electronics in the School of Electronics and Information Engineering highlights its characteristics of “cultivating talents by the integration of industry and education; improving quality by the integration of competition and innovation,” aiming to achieve the goal of “two-wheel drive of party-building and work; two-way improvement of organization and service,” and building an efficient, integrated and innovative Party branch. The major of Electronics has successfully been approved to confer master’s degree, and the branch secretary has won multiple honors such as the “World’s Top 2% Scientists with Career-long Impact.”

The teacher party branch of environmental ecology engineering in the School of Life Sciences, based on the discipline characteristics, has innovatively practiced the branch party-building brand of “LIVES” with systematic thinking. It has created five party-building integration “ecological circles” of “enhancing cohesion and forging the soul, integrated innovation, harmonious co-construction, ideological and political education, and industry-education integration.” The party branch has become a solid fortress for promoting the development of the cause, and ecology has been selected as World’s top 1% of ESI and a provincial first-class discipline.

The first student party branch of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, in the exploration of a new party-building model of “Graduate and Undergraduate Together for Talent-cultivation in Materials Science,” has innovated the management system of “Digital + Points + Projects,” established a “vertical and horizontal linkage” organizational mechanism, and implemented the key project of “Youth Following the Party, Pioneers Leading the Cause.” The party branch members have won nearly a hundred awards in national and provincial competitions in innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as in its discipline, striving to achieve “small branch with big output.”

Being selected as a provincial party-building model university cultivation unit is a new start for the university to comprehensively strengthen its party-building work and deepen its “innovation and entrepreneurship.” In the upcoming cycle, the university party committee will always uphold the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, adhere to the socialist direction in running school and implement the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education. Following the requirements of party-building demonstration and quality improvement, the university will adhere to the combination of overall planning with step-by-step implementation, software construction with hardware construction, and overall improvement with brand-building, so as to solidly promote the work in cultivation. Efforts will be made to vigorously carry forward the “six working” spirit of loyalty, pragmatism, responsibility, innovation, unity, and integrity, which helps to build a party-building university demonstration highland with high standards in the new era and provide a strong organizational guarantee for accelerating the construction of TU to strengthen the country and serve the local economic and social development.
