The First Meeting of the Ninth Faculty and Staff Congress & the Thirteenth Workers Union Members Congress of TU was held on December 12. Wang Yuqing, Member of the Standing Committee of Zhejiang Federation of Workers Union, Second-level Inspector and Chairman of Zhejiang Provincial Education Workers Union, Li Guoli, Member of the Party Group and Vice-chairman of Taizhou Federation of Workers Unions, Wang Xiaojian, Member of the Party Group and Deputy Director of Taizhou Education Bureau and Chairman of Taizhou Municipal Education Workers Union, and relevant TU leaders, directors and members attended. Zhu Jian, Secretary of the CPC TU Committee, delivered a speech. Yue Chuanyong, University President and Deputy Secretary of the CPC TU Committee, made a report on the work of the university. Xiang Fengri, Deputy Secretary of the CPC TU Committee, and Ding Yizhi, Deputy Secretary of the CPC TU Committee, presided over the meeting.

Wang Yuqing delivers a speech

Wang Yuqing, on behalf of the Zhejiang Provincial Education Workers Union, congratulated the convening of the meeting. He pointed out that TU Workers Union, under the leadership of the CPC TU Committee and the strong support of the administration sections, focuses on the central work of the university, faithfully performs the statutory duties of the workers union organization, gives full play to the four major functions of “maintenance, construction, participation and education,” unites and mobilizes the majority of the staff to take the initiative to play a role and build their achievements in their positions. The union has played an important role in promoting the reform, construction and development of the university.

On doing a good job in the new era of workers union work, Wang stressed raising the political position, serving the development of the overall situation, highlighting the advantages of the organization, and strengthening the service function. Wang believes that under the strong leadership of the CPC TU Committee and the strong support of the university administration, the new committee of TU Workers Union can make greater achievements.

Zhu Jian delivers a speech

Zhu Jian praised the meeting as a critical meeting held during the first year of implementing the spirit of the Fourth Party Congress and as the university’s “14th Five-Year Plan” enters its final push. He emphasized three key points for carrying forward the meeting’s outcomes.

Firstly, recognize achievements and maintain steady development. Zhu urged participants to integrate the learning from the Fourth Party Congress with these meetings, elevating political awareness and focusing on central tasks while deepening the “Eight Major Actions.” The aim was to support, participate in, and drive university reforms and developments.

Moreover, focus on priorities to accelerate progress. Zhu stressed identifying core issues for effective task implementation, tackling challenging problems to boost overall efficiency, and highlighting distinctive achievements to create brand effects based on understanding higher-level directives and adapting to development trends.

Thirdly, enhance service around central goals and unite efforts. Unions at all levels should play an important role in promoting reform, development and stability, aligning their work with the broader picture of university development. Party organizations must actively support union activities by setting clear targets, providing practical guidance, and solving concrete difficulties to ensure solid execution.

To build a brighter future for TU, there are no shortcuts. Only persistent effort will lead to success. Zhu Jian called on the staff to unite in their endeavors, work diligently, and take practical actions to expedite the development of TU.

Yue Chuanyong makes a report on the work of the university

At the conference, Yue Chuanyong delivered a report titled “United Efforts, Address Shortcomings, and Overcome Bottlenecks: Laying a Solid Foundation for the Accelerated Development of Taizhou University.” The report acknowledged significant achievements in party leadership, teaching reform, discipline construction, high-quality outcomes, talent recruitment and development, university-local collaboration, international exchanges, and service support over the past year.

Yue emphasized that the overall requirements for administrative work in 2025 are to fully implement the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, the National Education Conference, and the Fifth Plenary Session of the 15th Provincial Committee, seizing opportunities presented by national and provincial strategies for education enhancement. The focus will be on integrated education, science, and talent development, accelerating the implementation of goals set at the Fourth Party Congress, concentrating on cultivating landmark achievements, striving to become “the most caring university for students,” and enhancing contributions to regional economic and social development.

President Yue pointed out that the university must address bottlenecks to university elevation with urgency, deepen educational reforms with a focus on quality, promote distinctive discipline development aligned with industry needs, increase efforts in recruiting and developing top talent efficiently, enhance local service capabilities through mutual growth, cultivate international cooperation brands for practical use, concentrate financial resources to improve basic educational conditions, and enhance service management efficiency while reducing burdens.

Yue said that, standing at a new historical starting point with fresh opportunities for leapfrogging, all faculty and students shall be urged to maintain an unwavering fighting spirit, harness the momentum of time-sensitive progress, address shortcomings, overcome challenges, and jointly promote the university’s rapid, connotative, and high-quality development.

Vice President Li Junmin explained on the revision of the Taizhou University Professional and Technical Titles Evaluation and Appointment Methods. Wang Jinbao, Full-time Vice President of TU Workers Union, made a report on the work of the union.

The meeting also considered and passed the Taizhou University Professional and Technical Titles Evaluation and Appointment Methods, the Ten Actions for Enhancing the Quality of Education and Teaching and Creating the “Most Caring University” of Taizhou University (2024-2027), the Implementation Measures for Taizhou University’s Supernumerary Employed Personnel to Join the Workers Union, and the 13th TU Workers Union Committee and the Financial Review Committee of the TU Workers Union were elected.

184 official representatives from teaching, research, management, service and other positions, as well as attending representatives and invited representatives attended the meeting. Representatives focused on the work reports of TU and the TU Workers union, and carried out enthusiastic discussion.
