TU celebrates global diversity at Second International Culture Festival

TU’s Jiaojiang Campus came alive on May 29th for its vibrant Second International Culture Festival. University leaders, including Vice President Li Jianjun and Publicity Department head Cai Haijiang, joined faculty and students from 34 countries for a dazzling showcase of global cultures.

Vice President Li Jianjun opened the festival, highlighting its role as a vital bridge for cultural exchange and mutual understanding. He connected Taizhou’s identity as the “Land of Harmony and Unity” to the festival’s spirit, noting how international students embody this value. They not only share their own cultures but also become ambassadors for Taizhou—through initiatives like the “Foreign Travelers in Taizhou”—fostering a dynamic dialogue where local and global traditions enrich each other. He encouraged everyone present to embrace differences and discover the shared possibilities of human creativity.

The festivities kicked off with a spectacular “Parade of Nations”. Students proudly wore traditional attire from their homelands, creating a vibrant tapestry of colors, fabrics, and styles that captivated the audience. The stage then hosted a rich variety of performances: Mongolian song “Huddugin Sainhan Talig Zorimro” (melodic vocals); Iranian traditional dance “Sama” (graceful movements); Bangladesh song “Teer Hara Ei Dheuer Shagor” (sung by Li Xiaolong).

Beyond the stage, country-style booths offered hands-on exploration. Visitors sampled international cuisine, admired traditional crafts, tried on folk costumes, and chatted with other students of different countries. The lively atmosphere drew crowds from both the university and the wider Taizhou community, with many citizens expressing appreciation for this unique window into global cultures.
