Delegation from the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong Visits TU

Professor Simon Ho Shun-man, President of the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, led a delegation to visit Taizhou University on the morning of July 26. The delegation was accompanied by distinguished guests, including Chen Fangyue, Executive Deputy Director of the United Front Work Department of the Taizhou Municipal Committee; Kong Shengxiang, Chairman of Sentuo Construction Group Co., Ltd.; and Xu Haiting, Deputy Secretary-General of the Hong Kong Taizhou Fellow Association. Professor Le Chuanyong, President and Deputy Secretary of the CPC TU Committee, attended the meeting and warmly received the delegation. The discussion session was hosted by TU’s Vice President and Party Committee Member Professor Li Jianjun.

At the discussion session, Le Chuanyong warmly welcomed Simon Ho Shun Man and his delegation. He provided a detailed introduction to Taizhou’s history, culture, and economic development, as well as TU’s distinctive educational features, highlighting past achievements in exchanges with universities in Hong Kong. He expressed the hope that this visit would strengthen the friendship between the two universities and deepen cooperation in business, finance, and related fields, with particular anticipation for substantial progress in the MBM (Chinese-taught) master’s program, student exchange initiatives, and Taizhou entrepreneur training programs. He emphasized that the collaboration would provide a new platform for cultivating high-quality talent with an international perspective and contribute to the high-quality development of the regional economy.

Simon Ho Shun Man noted that this was his first visit to Taizhou and expressed high admiration for the city’s unique charm as “a city embraced by mountains, seas, and rivers”. He looked forward to the quick establishment of a research center in Taizhou and expressed strong enthusiasm for deepening cooperation between the two universities in areas such as undergraduate student exchanges and the development of an entrepreneur training center. He also extended a sincere invitation to Le Chuanyong, hoping that TU will send a delegation to visit Hang Seng University in the near future to further elevate the partnership between the two institutions.

During the meeting, representatives from both sides conducted in-depth discussions on government–university–enterprise cooperation and the joint cultivation of high-caliber, globally competent talent. They reached preliminary agreements on key areas, including mutual recognition of student credits, faculty exchanges, master’s program collaboration, the establishment of an entrepreneur training center, and the development of interdisciplinary laboratories.

In the presence of all attending guests, Le and Ho signed the Strategic Cooperation Framework Memorandum, marking a new stage in the partnership between the two universities.

After the discussion session, the delegation, accompanied by Le Chuanyong, Li Jianjun, and other university leaders, visited the Smart Cultural and Tourism Laboratory of the School of Business, the Taizhou Microfinance School, and the student dining hall. The visits provided an on-site look at the university’s achievements in business education, technological innovation, and campus support services.

At the Smart Cultural and Tourism Laboratory, the delegation closely explored the Tourism Metaverse Innovation Platform, which was independently developed by TU. This platform is among the first in China to integrate AI engines, VR/AR immersive interaction, and blockchain-based digital certification technologies into an innovative teaching system. It successfully establishes a three-in-one talent cultivation system for smart cultural and tourism education, combining theoretical instruction, virtual training, and practical application. The delegation highly praised the platform’s innovative design and practical value, and engaged in enthusiastic discussions on the application of metaverse technology in cultural and tourism education and cross-regional university–industry–research collaborations.

At the Taizhou Microfinance School, the delegation visited the Digital Inclusive Finance Exhibition Hall, which vividly showcased the university’s achievements in financial education and local economic service through multimedia interactions and case displays. The delegation expressed strong interest and held in-depth exchanges with university representatives on educational reform and joint master’s program initiatives.

This visit not only deepened mutual understanding between TU and the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, but also laid a solid foundation for future collaboration. Through discussion sessions and on-site visits, the two universities reached broad agreements across multiple areas, demonstrating promising prospects for cooperation. It is believed that, by working hand in hand, the two institutions can jointly contribute to cultivating globally competent talent and advancing regional economic and social development.
