TU concludes 2025 undergraduate admissions: steady improvement in student quality

With the final batch of admission letters dispatched On August 11, TU successfully concluded its 2025 undergraduate admissions process. This year, the university conducted an early assessment of the admissions landscape, continuously refined its program offerings, and implemented a coordinated “admissions–education–employment” mechanism. By carefully designing its admissions plan and building a comprehensive promotional system that integrates online and offline channels as well as coordination within and beyond Zhejiang Province, the university steadily expanded its influence and achieved strong admissions results.

Record-High National Enrollment

As of August 11, the university had completed admissions across 23 provinces as well as regions and 14 categories, enrolling a total of 4,256 undergraduate students, successfully meeting its full enrollment target. Overall student quality has shown steady improvement. Among the admitted students, 877 scored at or above the cutoff for special-category admissions (including the key and first-tier university cutoffs), representing a year-on-year increase of over 10% and setting a new record.

Admissions within Zhejiang Province remained stable, with several programs achieving higher cutoff scores compared to last year. Outside the province, student quality improved significantly, with the number of students admitted at or above the special-category cutoff rising nearly 70 percent year-on-year. Notably, students meeting or exceeding these cutoffs were admitted in 17 provinces, including Anhui, Fujian, Hebei, Henan, Heilongjiang, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Shaanxi, Sichuan, and Yunnan, where all or specific program categories achieved full admissions above the special-category threshold.

University Leadership Pays Close Attention to Admissions Work

During the admissions period, Zhu Jian, Secretary of the CPC TU Committee; Le Chuanyong, President and Deputy Secretary of the CPC TU Committee; and Li Jianjun, Vice President and Party Committee Member, visited the undergraduate admissions site to provide guidance and extend greetings to the staff.

At the admissions office, they listened carefully to reports from the Academic Affairs Office (Admissions Office) on admissions progress across provinces, categories, and batches nationwide. They inquired in detail about the overall arrangements and current status of this year’s admissions cycle, inspected the packaging and mailing of admission letters, and visited faculty and students who worked on campus during the summer, showed concern for their work and life.

During their visit, the university leaders emphasized the importance of admissions as a matter of educational equity and public concern. They urged all departments to conduct admissions with rigor and precision, ensuring well-regulated procedures, standardized processes, and accurate data for error-free operations. They also called for further enhancement of services: handling the mailing of admission letters with care and thoughtfulness, and providing patient, thorough responses through the admissions hotline. In addition, they highlighted the need to advance the informatization of admissions by improving systems, developing internal platforms, and strengthening the use and oversight of admissions data.

Targeted, Refined, and Dedicated Admissions Outreach

Targeted measures to optimize services for applicants. First, the Academic Affairs Office (Admissions Office) has launched a dedicated admissions hotline with a three-shift duty system covering morning, afternoon, and evening since June, ensuring timely responses to inquiries from applicants and parents regarding admissions policies and enrollment procedures. Second, to further improve service quality, the university held undergraduate admissions meetings and training sessions to strengthen faculty members’ expertise and enhance their ability to interpret admissions policies when engaging with prospective students. Faculty and student representatives were dispatched to 11 prefecture-level cities across Zhejiang Province to participate in public admissions consultation events, offering face-to-face guidance to applicants. Third, in collaboration with local education examination authorities and the Zhejiang Education Publicity Center, the university successfully hosted the 2025 Zhejiang Province College Entrance Examination Volunteer Application On-Site Consultation Session (Taizhou Venue), providing strong support to the local community. Additionally, the head of the Academic Affairs Office (Admissions Office) conducted two live-streaming sessions on social media to address public concerns about TU’s admissions policies, effectively enhancing communication and transparency.

Refined guides to closely align with applicants’ needs. The university has strengthened its information outreach by actively publishing 19 issues under the “2025 TU Admissions Guide” column, tailored to the needs of prospective students. It also produced and distributed 5,000 copies of the 2025 Undergraduate Admissions Guidebook and released a digital version to make admissions information more accessible. In addition, the official WeChat account for full-time undergraduate admissions—“TU Admissions” (台州学院招生)—has become an important window for students, parents, and the wider public to learn about the university’s policies, programs, and admissions progress. Since September last year, the account has released 129 issues containing 258 posts, attracting more than 600,000 views and over 52,000 followers.

Meticulously crafted admission letters to convey the warmth of TU. The university carefully designed and launched a brand-new version of the admission letters. Dominated by a solemn yet vibrant shade of Chinese red, the letters symbolize both the joy and honor of students achieving academic success and the profound values embedded in the motto “Continuously improve ethical conduct and make timely progress in education.” Moreover, to offer incoming students a first experience of TU’s warmth, each school prepared personalized orientation materials or commemorative items, which were sent together with the admission letters.

During the summer, the Logistics and Services Office, the Information Technology Center, and other departments provided robust technical support and safeguards, ensuring that undergraduate admissions proceeded safely, smoothly, and efficiently.
