TU secures 23 NSFC grants

On August 27, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) announced the review results for centralized applications of the year 2025. Taizhou University secured 22 new projects, totaling RMB 7.71 million, including 16 Youth Science Fund grants (Category C), a 23% increase from last year. Combined with one project approved in March, the university secured 23 NSFC grants in 2025, highlighting its strength in multidisciplinary collaborative research.

The funded projects span emerging fields such as new energy materials, life sciences, information science, drug synthesis, mathematics and physics, medicine, and engineering. They reflect strong alignment with national strategic priorities and societal needs, forming a research ecosystem where young talents lead projects, senior scholars guide directions, and international collaborations expand frontiers.

The university has prioritized innovation, pursuing its strategic goals of advancing to university status, gaining doctoral-granting authority, and building a first-class institution. By integrating research platforms, operational mechanisms, and interdisciplinary teams, it has created a virtuous cycle of “developing teams through projects and strengthening platforms through teams.” A comprehensive support system ensures faculty receive guidance throughout the grant application and implementation process.

NSFC awards are a key measure of a university’s research strength, disciplinary quality, and talent development. Moving forward, Taizhou University will continue focusing on cutting-edge science, strengthening basic research, integrating education and talent development, and promoting the synergy of scientific and industrial innovation, aiming to secure more major projects, produce landmark achievements, and contribute to China’s high-level self-reliance in science and technology.
