Taizhou University 2025 Freshman Opening Ceremony

Taizhou University Opening Ceremony for the Class of 2025 was held on September 14 and 15 at Jiaojiang and Linhai campuses respectively. Over 4,000 new undergraduate and postgraduate students participated. University leaders Zhu Jian, Le Chuanyong, Li Junmin, Li Jianjun, Ding Yizhi, Cai Haijiang, Zheng Lijun, and Wu Yinyin attended the ceremony and were seated on the rostrum. Deputy Party Secretary Xiang Fengri presided over the ceremony. National-level talent representative Professor Wang Lei was invited to attend. Party and administrative leadership teams of secondary schools and colleges, heads of relevant functional departments, class advisors, counselors, and all Class of 2025 undergraduate and postgraduate students participated in the ceremony.

University leaders on the rostrum together presented university badges to representative new students. All Class of 2025 freshmen stood up and pinned the badges on themselves. From this moment on, they shared one identity—“Members of Taizhou University”. This badge symbolizes not only belonging and honor but also the responsibility and mission to practice the spirit of the university motto “Nobler Morality, Greater Erudition, Quicker Adaptation, Better Application”.

President and Deputy Party Secretary Le Chuanyong, on behalf of the university, extended a warm welcome to the Class of 2025 freshmen. Using the theme “Building Dreams with Youth, Steadfast Action and Responsibility towards the Future”, he addressed all new students. He reviewed the university’s journey of striving forward with determination, and the numerous achievements attained along the way were pleasantly surprising. He emphasized that new students must be adept at utilizing the university’s resources for their own benefit, as this constitutes true utility.

Le Chuanyong offered three pieces of advice to the freshmen: First, be independent and thoughtful, and become practitioners who “respect teachers and enjoy community”; second, be steadfast and practical, and become dream-chasers who “dare to think and even more dare to break new ground”; third, have a mind for the nation and become responsible individuals who “aspire to lofty ideals”.

Deans of secondary schools and colleges delivering speeches

The deans of the secondary schools and colleges took the stage successively, offering earnest messages to the new students. They encouraged the freshies to set lofty ambitions, delve deeply into their professional fields, courageously carry out scientific research, maintain physical and mental health, and achieve a better self on the new journey.

2007 graduate Liu Meng and 2003 graduate Wang Ying, as alumni representatives, gave their speeches. Drawing on their own growth experiences, they encouraged the freshmen to cherish their university time, be brave in trying new things, persist in striving, and hold onto their ideals.

Quan Kunling, a postgraduate student from the School of Intelligent Manufacturing (Aeronautical Engineering), and Du Junhong, an undergraduate from the School of Artificial Intelligence, spoke as representatives of the Class of 2025 freshmen. They expressed that they would harbor the mindset of “serving the nation’s major needs”, stick to their original aspirations, study diligently and act steadfastly, temper themselves, and strive to be one with “patriotic sentiment, pioneering spirit, and solid skills”.

Members of the University Student Union Presidium, Chen Sumin and Jiang Hongjing, led all freshmen in a solemn oath: Uphold the university motto “Nobler Morality, Greater Erudition, Quicker Adaptation, Better Application”, cultivate patriotic feelings, inherit the pioneering spirit, temper strong abilities, remain true to original aspiration, and advance courageously and perseveringly, contributing youthful strength to the construction of TU.

Following the ceremony, University Party Secretary Zhu Jian addressed the Class of 2025 in a special lecture titled, “Taking Dreams as the ‘Code’, Jointly Starting a New ‘Program’.” He encouraged students to serve their country, cultivate a strong sense of responsibility, and develop discerning minds. Secretary Zhu urged them to nurture a drive for innovation, a dedication to excellence, and the resilience to overcome hardship.

He advised students to approach their university life with independent thinking, foster a collaborative environment for growth, and build a solid foundation through diligence and self-discipline. Furthermore, he emphasized that patriotic sentiment should guide their progress, while a pioneering spirit will open new possibilities for the future. In this way, they can continuously refine their personal development and write a glorious chapter of their youth at TU.
