At the beginning of the new semester, TU incorporated the drama “Youth · Meet” as an important component of the freshman entrance ideo-political education, organizing all freshmen to watch the performance.

“Youth · Meet” was first created in 2024. Based on the deeds of the Dachen Island reclamation, and with the “Dachen Island Reclamation Spirit” as its soul, it was meticulously crafted by the university’s teachers and students in collaboration with Gong Leying Famous Artist Studio, making it a locally produced original drama from Taizhou. The play uses modern theatrical techniques such as alternating time and space and flashbacks, through segments like “Dachen Island Ideo-political Course Practical Teaching”, “Reclamation Team Members Fighting the Typhoon”, “Dialogue with Old Reclamation Team Members”, “Revisiting the Reclamation Oath”, and “Striving to be a New Era Reclamation Pioneer”, cleverly connecting the youth time memories of the older generation of reclamation pioneers with the realistic reflections of contemporary university students.

This drama is one example of the university’s comprehensive implementation of the fundamental task of fostering virtue and educating people, and innovating the methods of ideo-political course teaching.

In recent years, TU has broken the limitations of traditional classrooms, actively building an “Ideo-political Course on the Move” education system, extending the ideo-political classroom to revolutionary education bases, fields, and theaters. The main actors in “Youth · Meet” are all students.

“What shocked me most was the scene fighting the typhoon,” said student actor Wu Yulu, who plays Ye Qianqian. “When the time-traveling freshmen shouted together, ‘Let’s go fight the typhoon together!’ At that moment, I felt as if I had truly become a reclamation team member, genuinely wanting to join the reclamation team and work with them to build Dachen Island better. In this moment, Ye Qianqian in the play achieved growth, and I myself also truly gained growth.”

TU is currently implementing a new initiative for educating students in the modern era, which includes comprehensive reforms to its ideological and political courses. As part of this effort, the university has crafted a dynamic theatrical production. This drama serves as an innovative “ideological and political lesson,” created by adapting high-quality local educational resources into an artistic format popular with students. The goal is to integrate the “Reclamation Spirit” into the talent development program.

By using this engaging approach, the university aims to make its ideological courses more profound, relatable, and effective. This brings the curriculum to life, effectively guiding students to strengthen their ideals, fulfill their core mission, and become high-quality, application-oriented talents with patriotic sentiment, a pioneering spirit, and solid practical skills.
