On the afternoon of November 28, Shen Mingquan, Secretary of the CPC Taizhou Municipal Committee, came to promote the spirit of the 4th Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee. He emphasized that young students should thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the important speech delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the Plenary Session, and fully implement the requirements of the Party Central Committee, the Provincial Party Committee and the Municipal Party Committee. They should integrate individual efforts with the cause of building a strong country and national rejuvenation, so as to pursue their youthful dreams and contribute their youthful strength on the new journey of advancing Chinese-style modernization.

The event was hosted by Zhu Jian, Secretary of the University Party Committee. Present at the event were Chen Tingchen, Member of the Standing Committee and Secretary-General of the Municipal Party Committee, members of the university party and administration leading group, some middle-level officials, ideological and political course teachers, college counselors and student representatives.

Shen pointed out the profound significance and far-reaching influence of the Plenary Session, which is convened at a critical period when China is about to enter the stage of consolidating foundations and making all-round efforts to basically realize socialist modernization. Serving as a link between the past and the future, the Plenary Session comprehensively and objectively summarized the achievements made during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, reviewed and adopted the Recommendations of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China for Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development, and pointed out the direction and path for development in the next five years. The 8th Plenary Session of the 15th Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee thoroughly implemented the spirit of the Plenary Session, systematically responded to General Secretary Xi’s series of important instructions and requirements for Zhejiang, and mapped out the direction and blueprint for Zhejiang in the next five years. Taizhou has initially proposed that during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, it aims to construct a powerful hub of smart manufacturing featuring land-sea opening-up in the Yangtze River Delta, take three major driving initiatives as the main carriers, accelerate high-quality catch-up development, and strive to become a “city with trillion-yuan GDP”. We should perceive the mission of the times from the spirit of the plenary sessions, see the bright future from the vivid vision, earnestly shoulder our responsibilities and gather the power to forge ahead.

Shen emphasized that rooted endeavor is the most beautiful background of youth. Born in a prosperous era, young students shoulder heavy responsibilities. The generation for national rejuvenation is not only an honor but also a mission. Students should draw the power of innovation from good books, strive to innovate, start businesses, and diligently pursue prosperity on the fertile land of Taizhou. Students should shift from “study in Taizhou” to “innovation in Taizhou”, and forge ahead courageously in accelerating the drive toward socialist modernization. Students must strengthen ideals, beliefs, and patriotic feelings. Taking the “love of the Party and the motherland” as the foundation and the path to success, students are to keep pace with the times and share the destiny of the motherland. Students should develop strong capabilities at the forefront of the times, maintain the enthusiasm for endless learning and lifelong learning, take the initiative to recharge batteries with cutting-edge knowledge, and engage in the grand scene of future career development with real talent and practical learning. The Reclamation Spirit should be inherited and carried forward. Students are to take difficulties and hardships as a “catalyst” for accelerated growth and achieve dreams on the land of Taizhou.

Shen stressed that the university should provide better services to enable young students to live in peace and contentment, grow into talents and work steadily in Taizhou. Taizhou University should benchmark first-class comprehensive universities, accelerate the construction of a high-level application-oriented university, and continuously enhance its visibility and influence. Teachers should vigorously promote the “Spirit of Educators”, devote themselves to teaching and academic research, and continuously improve their comprehensive quality as well as the level of teaching and scientific research, thus cultivating more outstanding talents for Taizhou’s development.
