In his remarks, Zhu Jian, Secretary of the University Party Committee, expressed the university’s highest respect and sincere gratitude to the 29 retirees for their long-standing dedication and contributions to the university’s development. He noted that over the past year, the university has focused on the goal of “coordinating efforts to advance university upgrading and doctoral program applications, and uniting to strive for first-class status.” In alignment with the broader initiatives of building an innovative Zhejiang and an innovative Taizhou, the university has taken on responsibilities proactively and achieved notable progress across multiple areas. “Every retiring teacher is a valuable asset of the university,” Zhu said. He highlighted, in particular, Zhang Peirong from the Logistics Services Management Department, who has served the university for 44 years, as well as Lin Caixi from the Linhai Campus Comprehensive Service Management Center and Yang Beifen from the School of Life Sciences, a couple retiring together.

Zhu Jian emphasized that the retirees have demonstrated the noble qualities of dedication and selfless service through their actions, nurturing generations of TU students and staff and providing enduring momentum for the institution’s progress. He said it is precisely the continued commitment of successive generations of TU members that has strengthened the university’s tradition of teacher education and carried forward the “Taizhou Spirit.”

Zhu added that retirement is both a successful conclusion to a career and a new starting point for passing on the university’s values. He expressed the hope that retirees will continue to support the growth of teachers and students, share the story of TU, and help preserve the “Taizhou Spirit.” He also encouraged current teachers and students to carry forward the retirees’ legacy and work together toward the university’s goals of “upgrading to a higher-level university, applying for doctoral programs, and striving to be first-class.”

During the ceremony, retirees came to the stage in order of their retirement dates. Zhu Jian and Le Chuanyong presented them with flowers, red scarves, and commemorative booklets, and took photos with them to honor their service.

Speaking on behalf of the retirees, Associate Professor Zhang Zhiya from the School of Teacher Education (Physical Education) thanked the university for providing a platform for professional growth and an environment supportive of teaching and scholarship. She reflected on key moments in the university’s reform and development during her 38-year career. “As a teacher, I have always kept my mission in mind,” she said. “I have fulfilled my responsibilities conscientiously, improved myself according to the university’s educational goals, and helped students grow from naivety to maturity—guiding them from campus into the wider world so they can become contributors to society. Today, as I conclude my career, I can say with pride that I have lived up to the expectations of society and the university.”

Representing young faculty, Lou Liangliang—Vice Dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence—said he would take the retiring teachers as role models by upholding rigorous scholarship and a spirit of pragmatism and innovation. With the belief that “success does not necessarily depend on me, but success will certainly involve me,” he pledged to carry forward the university’s fine traditions, align personal development with the university’s overall goals, and contribute youthful energy to the university’s future progress.
