On the morning of June 17, the unveiling ceremony of the Taizhou University San Bernardino Polytechnic Institute was held in the lecture hall on the third floor of the Science and Technology Complex at Taizhou University, marking a solid and important step forward in deepening international education cooperation and jointly cultivating internationally oriented talent between TU and California State University, San Bernardino. The ceremony was attended by Le Chuanyong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Taizhou University Committee and President; Li Jianjun, Vice President and member of the CPC Taizhou University Committee; and John Binkley, Associate Provost and Dean of the College of Extended and Global Education at California State University, San Bernardino, together with his delegation. Wang Aiqin, Deputy Director (presiding over the work) of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, hosted the ceremony.

President Le Chuanyong delivers a speech
Le Chuanyong first extended a warm welcome and gratitude to the American representatives and guests from all sectors, noting that Taizhou, an important manufacturing base in the Yangtze River Delta and a major hub of the national pharmaceutical industry, is actively integrating into global development. With a history spanning more than a century, TU has remained committed to serving the internationalization of the regional pharmaceutical industry. He put forward three expectations for the development of the institute: first, focus on cultivating cross-culturally competent talent by integrating the resources of the two universities to build an education system that blends the strengths of China and the West; second, sharpen disciplinary characteristics, align with Zhejiang’s “315” science and technology innovation system, and deepen engagement in the fields of life and health and ecological and environmental protection; third, enhance mutual learning among civilizations and build bridges for China-U.S. educational and people-to-people exchanges. In closing, he expressed the hope that the institute would become a shining example of high-level cooperative education, contributing to the internationalization of the pharmaceutical industry and to the cause of human health.

John Binkley delivers a speech
In his speech, John Binkley said that the day marked not only the establishment of a new institute, but also a new bridge connecting TU and California State University, San Bernardino, and linking education and innovation. The Taizhou University San Bernardino Polytechnic Institute, he said, carries the grand vision of cultivating students with a global perspective, practical competence, and the confidence to lead the future, enabling them not only to master professional skills but also to solve real-world problems through cross-cultural collaboration and contribute to the development of their communities and society at large. He especially thanked the leaders and educators of all parties for their dedicated efforts in establishing the institute, and expressed the hope that it would become a center of educational excellence, a home of innovation and development, and a flagship model of international cooperation.

At the unveiling ceremony, Professor Zeng Wei, Director of the Taizhou University San Bernardino Polytechnic Institute, gave a detailed introduction to the cooperative education programs. John Binkley also gave a detailed overview of California State University, San Bernardino.
Members of the delegation from California State University, San Bernardino, together with heads of relevant functional departments and academic schools of TU and faculty and student representatives, attended and witnessed the unveiling ceremony.

Following the unveiling ceremony, the Chinese and American sides held a cooperation exchange meeting and conducted in-depth discussions on topics including curriculum articulation in talent development programs, enrollment promotion, student scholarships, teaching in China by American faculty, study and research visits by American students, and exchange visits by TU faculty and students to the United States, reaching multiple points of consensus.

Visit to Research Facilities
During the visit, the American delegation held academic exchanges with faculty and students from the School of Life Sciences and the School of Pharmaceutical and Chemical Engineering of TU. They visited teaching and research facilities including the intelligent greenhouse, the Taizhou Biomedical and Chemical Industry Research Institute, the Chemistry Teaching and Research Office, the Public Analysis Platform, and the Biology and Environment Teaching and Research Office, and spoke highly of the university’s educational facilities and achievements.
The inauguration of the Taizhou University San Bernardino Polytechnic Institute is an important achievement in TU’s efforts to promote opening-up in education and enhance its internationalization. It will also provide strong talent and intellectual support for the development of the pharmaceutical industry and environmental protection in Taizhou and the broader Yangtze River Delta region.
