TU international students visit Taizhou ancient city

Recently, Taizhou University’s 28 international students from Bangladesh, Morocco, India, and other countries, went to Taizhou Ancient City to participate in the cultural travel activities of “Jiangnan Song City, Happy May Day Holiday”.

The first stop is the Southern Great Wall (also known as the Taizhou City Wall) in Linhai. First built in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, it has witnessed more than 1600 years of vicissitudes. When the students looked up, they were all amazed by the grandeur of the Great Wall and the majesty of Lansheng Gate. The second stop is East Lake, reputed as the best garden in Taizhou. Dug in the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127), it is Taizhou’s important historical site in the Northern and Southern Song dynasties. In spring, you can see the weeping willows by the lake and the blooming flowers in the garden. When the international students were strolling around the pavilions and corridors, they gazed at the landscape into the distance and were intoxicated with the exquisite beauty of Chinese classical gardens. On their third stop, the students took a stroll in Ziyang Street. As Linhai’s first ancient street, it is the epitome of the ancient city as well as the symbol of the historical and cultural city. The students first watched “Fucheng Matchmaking” at Qianfo Well stage, and then walked along Cherry Blossom Avenue to Wengcheng for the magnificent performance “Iron Lady — Legend of the Qi Army". The last stop is Zhuangyuan Villa, where the international students immersed themselves in the show “Good Things are Coming” which has synthesized friendship, family, love, and patriotism.

Li Chengkai from Bangladesh said, “I am very happy to participate in this event. East Lake, Ziyang Street, and Taizhou City Wall are fascinating, and the show ‘Good Things are Coming’ left me with a deep impression.”

Lisa from Morocco said, “Thank you for this wonderful cultural and travel experience, which has impressed me deeply with the charm of Chinese culture. It will be one of my best memories.”

This is one of the series of activities of “Experience China” for our international students. Through the interactive experiences, the international students have deepened their understanding of the cultural “flavor” of the ancient Taizhou City, experienced Chinese customs and the elegance of the Song Dynasty, and strengthened their cultural identity in Chinese culture.
