On April 26, a cultural exchange activity entitled “When Yangyan Tea Blended with Hand-Brewed Coffee” was jointly organized by Linhai Overseas Chinese Federation, Linhai Government Information Office and TU International School in Yangyan Mountain Tea Garden, in which 10 international students from Bangladesh, Morocco, Rwanda and other countries participated.
Under the direction of the tea picker, the international students put on hats, picked up tea baskets and went into the Ten-Thousand Mu Tea Garden to experience tea plucking. Afterwards, they learned how to stir-fry their picked tea leaves. After watching the production process of drying, stir-frying and kneading, they couldn’t wait to experience it in person. Finally, under the guidance of the barista, everyone tried to make the tea coffee. The novel experience of blending Yangyan tea with hand-brewed coffee earned praise from international students one after another.
Holding a cup of Yangyan Tea in hand, they savored it carefully and tasted the sweetness in their mouths. In addition to tea tasting, they also visited Tea Culture Museum on the Yangyan Mountain. They experienced the unique charm of China’s traditional tea culture in the interpretation of the long history of the China’s tea culture and Yangyan Mountain.
“I’m very happy to be here, and it’s also the first time I drink Yangyan Tea. It’s great! I love it!” Wang Kai from Rwanda was excited about today’s experience and was ready to introduce it to his family and friends.
Chen Guangming from Bangladesh said, “I feel grateful for this special experience, which made me fall in love with Chinese tea, and I hope more people will get to know the beauty of Yangyan Mountain.”
Yangyan Tea is a golden card of agriculture in Linhai, representing the oriental beverage culture in contrast to coffee standing for a western signature one. As a vivid embodiment of the in-depth social practice of “Perception of China”, this activity has deepened the cultural exchange between China and foreign countries. Through the field experience, the overseas students learned about China’s extensive and profound tea culture, and further stimulated their enthusiasm for learning and motivation for spreading Chinese culture.
