Xiang Fengri, Deputy Secretary of the CPC TU Committee, makes a speech

TU’s 2024 Summer Social Practice Departure Ceremony was successfully held at the Linhai Campus on the morning of June 29th. Xiang Fengri, Deputy Secretary of the CPC TU Committee, Cai Haijiang, Member of the CPC TU Standing Committee and Head of the Publicity Department, Yang Qifu, Head of the Student Affairs Department, Xia Yanfeng, Head of the Security Department, and Zhou Yao, Dean of the School of Entrepreneurship, were invited to attend the event. The secretaries of the school branch committees and representatives of the practice team participated in the ceremony. Pan Yao, Secretary of TU’s Youth League Committee, presided over the event.

Xiang Fengri made a mobilization speech at the ceremony. He affirmed and praised the series of practical activities with distinctive themes, rich content and diverse forms carried out by TU in recent years, and encouraged the students to go out of the campus and take the “big ideo-political course” combined with the ongoing practice of Chinese path to modernization, so as to receive education, develop their talents and make contributions in the social classrooms. Students should take root in the land of Taizhou through summer social practice activities, go deep into the masses and the reality, understand the Party’s situation, the national situation and the people’s situation, and further cultivate their love for the country and its people, their will to reclaim wasteland, and their solid skills in dedicating themselves to the society and serving the people, to help build a community of destiny between the university and the city. In view of this practice, Xiang put forward three hopes and requirements: first, cherish the opportunity; second, practice full heartedly; third, achieve good results. Finally, he called on the students to go deep into the masses, understand the national conditions, be willing to dedicate themselves, serve the people, and take practical actions to write a chapter of “youth standing up for Chinese path to modernization”.

At the ceremony, Cai Haijiang presented awards to the School of Humanities, the School of Teacher Education, and the School of Marxism for their outstanding organization of the 2023 Summer Social Practice. Gao Shan, a representative of the School of Humanities, made a solemn promise on behalf of the practice team members that they would devote themselves to social practice with full enthusiasm and high spirit, learn from the people with a good attitude, and strive to successfully complete all tasks of social practice. Then, a flag-giving ceremony was held, and representatives of the practice teams from each school and functional department came on stage to receive the team flags.

TU has adopted the theme of “Youth should take the responsibility for Chinese path to modernization” this year, and, based on the actual needs of economic and social development in Zhejiang Province and Taizhou, adopted a combination of point and area approaches. The university has organized 99 practice teams from each school and functional department to carry out the “Double Hundred and Double Progress” centralized summer social practice. After returning to their places of residence, students will carry out special practical activities such as “returning home” and “thousands of jobs for thousands of people”.
