The 17th Outstanding Host Competition concludes successfully

The grand finale of the “Your Voice, Our Vibrant Youth” 2024 Campus Outstanding Host Competition, hosted by the University Youth League Committee, took place at the Student Activity Center on Jiaojiang Campus on the evening of November 23. The panel of judges included Han Zimo, a representative from China Merchants Bank, Li Xin from the University Publicity Department, and Wang Peilei and Liu Lijuan from the University Youth League Committee.

Out of over 400 contestants from the two campuses, 12 finalists from various schools advanced through multiple rounds of selection to compete in the finale. The competition consisted of four segments: style showcase, partnered hosting, individual hosting, and impromptu speech.

In the style showcase segment, contestants captivated the audience with their confidence, poise, and charm, using charismatic self-introductions to highlight their unique personalities and earning enthusiastic applause. During the partnered hosting round, pairs of contestants displayed their versatility by simulating hosting across various formats. They incorporated elements such as singing, dancing, piano performances, and poetry recitations, presenting a vibrant and engaging audio-visual feast to the audience.

The individual hosting segment saw contestants skillfully manipulate rhythm, tone, and emotion to deliver powerful presentations that celebrated the motherland, cultural heritage, family traditions, and the youthful spirit of responsibility and perseverance in the new era. The energy in the room reached its peak as their performances resonated deeply with the audience.

Finally, in the impromptu speech segment, contestants demonstrated their quick thinking and eloquence, delivering insightful remarks on topics such as life journeys, youth development, and personal values. Their fluid performances manifested the adaptability, depth, and literary finesse essential for outstanding hosts.

In the end, Qiu Yu, from Class 1, Musicology of 2023, claimed the first prize. Yang Ziyi, from Class 3, Financial Management of 2024, and Wang Rongxing, from Class 2, English Education of 2022, took second prize, while third prizes were awarded to Peng Yuxi, from Class 1, Biology of 2024, Li Wenwen, from Class 1, Materials Control of 2024, and Yu Luyao, from Class of Pre-School Education of 2024. Additionally, Li Wenwen and Yu Luyao were honored with the Audience Choice Award.

The event concluded to resounding applause. As a hallmark of TU’s campus culture, the Outstanding Host Competition provided a platform for students to convey their passion about hosting and showcase their talents. It played a pivotal role in enriching campus cultural life, injecting new vitality into the broadcasting and hosting field, and inspiring more aspiring students to share impactful stories, amplify the voices of the times, and craft exciting new chapters through the art of hosting.
