Members of Holistic Approach to National Security Research Center visit Dachen Island

April 15 marked the 10th National Security Education Day. The theme this year is “Decade Efforts for Deepening and Solidifying National Security Education.” On this day, the launch ceremony of the “National Security Island Tour,” co-organized by Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee Office, Provincial National Security Department, and TU, was held on Dachen Island, known as the “Pearl of the East China Sea.” Members of the “Hehe National Security” publicity team from TU’s Holistic Approach to National Security Research Center were invited to participate in the event, delivering a recital performance.

Event highlights

The recital, titled Dachen Epic: Tides of History and Dawn of the Future, unfolded across six chapters: “Prologue,” “Liberation of the Abandoned East China Sea Land,” “Reclaiming the Island and Building a Prosperous Society,” “Top-Level Planning Charts the Course,” “Guarding Borders and Illuminating the East,” and “Epilogue—Revisiting the Message.” The performance conveyed a patriotic theme of “pioneering spirit safeguarding mountains and seas, the Dachen epic singing of homesickness and unity,” earning praise from attending officials and guests.

Zhang Tianhua, Deputy Director of the Holistic Approach to National Security Research Center and Dean of the School of Marxism at TU, stated, “We hope this event will help more people understand Dachen Island’s history and current significance, recognize the importance of national security, and collectively contribute to the nation’s prosperity.”

Prior to the event, the team visited the Dachen Island Cross-Strait Homeland Theme Hall and the Pioneering Spirit Monument Square, delving into the island’s history and revisiting its ethos of “arduous entrepreneurship, determined self-improvement, selfless dedication, and bold innovation.”

Established in March 2025, TU’s “Hehe National Security” publicity team comprises 20 professors and doctoral researchers. Guided by the “holistic security” philosophy, the center and its team have deepened theoretical research, developed practical initiatives, and worked to embed the holistic national security approach into public consciousness. Their efforts aim to forge a distinctive Zhejiang-style path for national security practices.

The team has actively promoted public education on the holistic national security approach, exploring ways to integrate it into a unified ideological education framework across primary, secondary, and higher education institutions. Additionally, they have advanced outreach programs targeting government agencies, schools, enterprises, rural areas, communities, military units, and online platforms, striving to make national security awareness a societal cornerstone.
