The Second Yangtze River Delta Art Education Teaching and Research Workshop successfully held at TU

From May 30th to 31st, the second Yangtze River Delta Art Education Teaching and Research Workshop was successfully concluded at Jiaojiang campus. The activity was jointly organized by Yangtze River Delta Art Education Research Alliance and TU, hosted by the School of Art and Design of TU, and co-organized by the Art Education Research Center of East China Normal University. The aim was to promote the reform of art education in the Yangtze River Delta region, enhance the comprehensive quality of art education majors, and promote regional exchanges and cooperation. Li Jianjun, Vice President and Member of the CPC TU Committee, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a welcome speech, and Jiang Xiangyang, Party Secretary of the School of Art and Design presided over the opening ceremony.

Li Jianjun extended sincere welcome to guests, teachers and students. He pointed out that art educators in Yangtze River Delta have always been rooted in traditional foundations to actively explore new concepts and methods, and continuously open up new paths for art education. He emphasized that art educators should work together to break regional limitations and explore the path of innovative development. Ke Shenghai, Dean of the School of Art and Design, introduced the training model of “dual-core driven” for art education majors, emphasizing the integration of AI and VR technology into teaching and cultivation of art education talents with “roots.” Qian Chuxi, a professor at East China Normal University and initiator of the Yangtze River Delta Art Education Research Alliance, pointed out that the event has pioneering significance and aims to improve the academic quality of future teachers and lay a foundation for their professional careers.

There were 13 participating teams from 12 universities, including East China Normal University, Shanghai Normal University, Zhejiang Normal University, and Anhui Normal University. Nearly 80 undergraduate students participated in the event, and nearly 40 art teachers from primary and secondary schools attended. With the theme of “Digitalization, Core Quality, and Creative Thinking,” the event focused on the cultivation of Chinese students’ artistic core quality to explore the path of developing creative thinking with the assistance of digital technology and artificial intelligence. The competition included four major parts: art unit design, single lesson presentation video, group presentation, and teaching achievement report.

Five special prizes and eight first prizes were awarded after evaluation by Professor Qian Chuxi and Zheng Wen from East China Normal University, Art Education Researcher Leng Ying from Zhejiang Province, Senior Teacher Jin Hua from Xingcheng School in Suzhou Industrial Park, and Art Education Researcher Shen Qi from Jiading District of Shanghai.

Guests give speeches and visit

At the closing ceremony, Professor Qian summarized the research on activity teaching from multiple perspectives, pointing out that the reports of various university teams have highlighted the concept of “people-oriented” education and promoted the disciplinary integration and innovation. Zhao Zhenhua, Vice Dean of the School of Art and Design, affirmed the achievements of the event and encouraged young students to shoulder the mission of aesthetic education in the digital age.
