A delegation led by Huang Kaka, Director of Asian Affairs at the International Centre of the University of Roehampton, UK, visited Taizhou University and held a cooperation discussion meeting on the morning of July 11th. Li Jianjun, Vice President and CPC Party Committee Member of the university, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Wang Aiqin, Deputy Director of the International Office (presiding), presided over the meeting. Persons in charge of the School of Humanities, School of Artificial Intelligence, School of Art and Design, and others participated in the discussion.
Bilateral discussion
At the meeting, Li Jianjun, on behalf of TU, extended a warm welcome to Huang Kaka and his delegation, and elaborated on the characteristics of Taizhou city and the significant achievements made by TU. He stated that Taizhou is a modern coastal city characterized by its “mountains, sea, water city, holy land of harmony, and manufacturing capital.” Taizhou University, rooted in Taizhou, is a vibrant university full of growth potential. He expressed hope for opportunities to carry out educational cooperation with the University of Roehampton and yield fruits of internationalized education.
Huang Kaka highly appreciated the achievements of TU. He introduced the history and characteristics of the University of Roehampton to the attendees, focusing on existing international exchange programs and development plans. He looked forward to deeper cooperation between the two universities in areas such as talent cultivation and technological innovation.

The host and guest had discussions on aspects such as Sino-foreign cooperative education, joint doctoral training, faculty exchange, combined bachelor’s-master’s programs, and student short-term exchanges, reaching consensus on international exchange activities to be carried out in the next stage. At the meeting, Wang Aiqin and Huang Kaka signed a memorandum of cooperation on behalf of Taizhou University and the University of Roehampton, respectively.

During the visit, accompanied by Wang Aiqin, the University of Roehampton delegation conducted in-depth inspections of Taizhou University’s School of Art and Design and Entrepreneurship School, observed displays of student innovation and entrepreneurship achievements. The delegation highly evaluated TU’s characteristics of “industry-education integration and university-enterprise collaboration” and affirmed the professional competence and practical ability demonstrated by students in the fields of creative design and innovation and entrepreneurship.

The University of Roehampton is located in southwest London and is a public university with a history of over a hundred years. It ranked 99th in the 2024 Times UK University rankings. The university is known for its strengths in humanities and social sciences, education, arts, and life sciences. It offers programs covering literature, sociology, humanities, dance, education, business and management, computer science, and other fields, providing undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees. It has about 14,000 students. The university has a beautiful environment with extensive green spaces, earning it the nickname “garden university.”
