Medical-chemical students win first prize in Zhejiang Universities Chemical Design Contest

The “Sulphone Dawn” team—team members of which include Liang Ping, Yu Junchen, Liang Tingting, Lu Peng and He Jinghong from School of Pharmaceutical and Chemical Engineering from Taizhou University—won the first prize and the Best Engineering Drawing Award in the 19th “Huayi Cup” Zhejiang Universities Chemical Design Contest concluded recently in Hangzhou.

Participating teachers and students

Sponsored by Zhejiang University Sci-Tech Competition Committee and hosted by Hangzhou Normal University, the contest drew 212 teams from 28 universities. After rigorous review, 36 entered the final, where 10 first prizes and three drawing awards were granted. The contest aims to enhance college students’ innovative thinking, engineering skills, team spirit, as well as their capabilities in engineering design and practice.

The result reflects both the team’s hard work and TU’s long-standing focus on practice-oriented teaching and innovation. By encouraging participation in discipline contests, the university provides platforms that hone students’ comprehensive qualities and employability. It will persist in its “contest-driven learning, contest-driven teaching” philosophy and encourage more students to compete and win still greater honors for the university.
