The Symposium on Innovation and Application of Drug Synthesis Technology was held on November 8 in Conference Room D241 of the School of Life Sciences. The symposium focused on cutting-edge breakthroughs and industrial applications in drug synthesis technology, aiming to promote deep integration of industry, academia, and research, and to build a comprehensive innovation system spanning from “synthesis technology—formulation development—industrial application.” It attracted numerous experts, scholars, and key researchers from universities, enterprises, and hospitals. The symposium was jointly organized by School of Life Sciences, Zhejiang International Science and Technology Cooperation Base for Bio-based Resource Development and Utilization, Taizhou Key Laboratory of Biomedicine and Advanced Formulations, Taizhou Key Laboratory of Biomass Functional Material Development and Application, Taizhou Key Discipline of Biology and Medicine, and Department of Hematology and Oncology of Taizhou Municipal Hospital (Affiliated Hospital of Taizhou University). The opening ceremony was presided over by Zhao Kai, Dean of the School of Life Sciences. Xiang Fengri, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.
Xiang stated that the biomedical industry is a strategically emerging industry that Taizhou is focusing on cultivating and is currently at a critical stage of high-quality development. This seminar responds to the national medical and health strategy. It precisely aligns with the needs of regional industrial upgrading and provides an important platform for collaborative innovation in “industry-academia-research-application.”
Xiang also introduced TU’s strengths in the construction of biology and pharmaceutical disciplines, faculty teams, and scientific research platforms. He expressed the university’s firm determination to further deepen school-enterprise cooperation and serve local economic development.

Opening Remarks by Xiang Fengri
The symposium focused on two major themes: “Innovation in Drug Synthesis Technology and Green Processes” and “Application of Novel Drug Carriers and Formulation Technologies.” During the plenary session, industry experts including Nie Lei, Director of Zhejiang BioRay Pharmaceutical Research Institute; Zhang Xiaoqiang, Research Department Manager of Xianju Pharmaceutical; and Li Xun, Director of Innovative Formulations at Hisun Pharmaceutical, along with young faculty members from TU—Xu Shangen, Wang Yiyu, Lin Yuhong, and Chen Yao—delivered special reports on topics such as novel drug development, green synthesis pathways, key formulation technologies, and applications of biomaterials.

Academic Lectures
This symposium has established a high-level communication platform for researchers both within and outside the region, injecting new momentum into promoting the green and intelligent development of drug synthesis technology and its industrial transformation.
Moving forward, TU will further strengthen collaborative innovation with pharmaceutical enterprises, jointly establish research and development platforms, and cultivate specialized talent. Through these efforts, we aim to contribute more effectively to the advancement of the “Healthy China” strategy and support the high-quality development of the biopharmaceutical industry.
