Zhejiang Provincial City Football League “Wu-Yue Cup” kicked off with Taizhou Team’s first home match against Jinhua Team on April 10 at Taizhou Sports Center. Mor than 3,000 Taizhou University faculty and student spectators cheered on Taizhou Football Team. Still there are 500 volunteers who undertook tasks such as on-field performances, ticket inspection and guidance, and gift distribution.

To create a uniquely vibrant stands culture, TU designed exclusive cheering slogans and gestures through online solicitation and offline rehearsals in advance. When Taizhou Team players entered the field, the synchronized roar of “Go Taizhou!” soared high, igniting the atmosphere of the arena. Throughout the match, the audience strictly adhered to game-watching etiquette, maintaining silence during critical moments of offensive and defensive transitions, and cheering exuberantly at the goals.

Student Volunteers Participate in the Opening Performance

Beyond the bustling stands, TU volunteers formed a flowing landscape of service, safeguarding the event with professionalism and dedication. This volunteer team, meticulously selected by the University Sports Committee and the Youth League Committee, underwent systematic training before the competition. The training covered multiple modules, including event rules, service etiquette, and emergency response, ensuring that each volunteer was fully equipped to meet the demands of their roles. Based on their assigned tasks, the volunteer team was divided into three groups: in-field performance, ticket-checking and guidance, and material support, forming a comprehensive service system. Volunteers from the in-field performance team delivered an energetic group show; those from the ticket-checking and guidance team completed the entry guidance for over 30,000 spectators in just 50 minutes; and the material support team finished packaging and arranging 30,000 gift bags five hours before the event. “Working continuously from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM, a total of nine hours! But seeing the event run smoothly, it was all worth it.” said Xiang Jinchen, the volunteer coordinator.

It is reported that the total volunteer service hours exceeded 6,000. Through their unwavering dedication of averaging 20,000 steps per day and thousands of directions, the volunteers earned widespread praise from both the event organizing committee and the audience.

Student Volunteers

The participation of faculty and students in event services this time is a vivid practice of the university’s “education through practice” philosophy. TU placed great emphasis on this event, establishing a dedicated leadership task force to coordinate spectator management, volunteer recruitment, logistical support, and other related matters. All secondary schools and colleges jointly conducted mobilization efforts, forming a campus-wide participatory framework.

As for the match, Taizhou team defeated Jinhua team 2:1, securing their first victory in Wu-Yue Cup.
