Dr. Chen Duo from University of Konstanz, Germany, was invited to the School of Life Sciences of Taizhou University to carry out academic exchanges, and delivered a lecture entitled “Coexistence of alien and native plants and plant-soil interactions” on the morning of December 28, 2023.
During the lecture, Dr. Chen elucidated that the increasing number of alien plants can jeopardize the growth and development of native plants. He pointed out that plant-soil interactions are also an important factor affecting the success of alien plant invasion in terrestrial ecosystems. He maintained that, based on terrestrial exotic and native plants, the study of plant-plant and plant-soil interactions can provide new perspectives on species coexistence and exotic plant control.
Relevant faculty members and graduate students from the School of Life Sciences attended the lecture, and had a lively exchange and discussion with Dr. Chen on the academic issues of concern.
