Monash University Doctor Zeng Mengjie delivers a lecture on knee osteoarthritis

The School of Medicine of Taizhou University held the 6th Taizhou Medical Youth Forum on the afternoon of April 26. Dr. Zeng Mengjie from Monash University of Australia was invited to give an academic lecture on knee osteroarthrithis. The lecture was hosted by Hu Qiongying, Vice Dean of the School of Medicine.

Dr. Zeng’s lecture is titled “Towards a better understanding of the pathogenesis of knee osteoarthritis”. Knee osteoarthritis is a common degenerative disease in the elderly, and the chief treatment method is to relieve the pain symptoms. How to prevent the occurrence of knee osteoarthritis is the key. This lecture introduces the relationship between cardiovascular diseases, metabolic syndrome, endogenous hormones in human body and knee osteoarthritis, as well as the effect of drug atorvastatin on meniscus pathology and knee joint structural process.

After the lecture, Dr. Zeng had an in-depth exchange on epidemiology-related issues with the teachers and students present.

About the lecturer:

Zeng Mengjie, graduated from North China University of Science and Technology with a bachelor’s degree in Acupuncture and Massage, from Macau University of Science and Technology with a master’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine, and from Monash University (QS42) with a PhD degree in Clinical Medicine. Doctor Zeng is the first author of several papers published in international journals such as Gerontology, The Bone and Joint Journal, Frontiers in Neuroendocrinology, and others.
