To promote academic exchanges and scientific and technological collaboration between biomedical research institutes and pharmaceutical enterprises in Zhejiang province, Taizhou University (TU)’s School of Medicine and Science and Technology Department jointly organized Taizhou Medical High-end Forum which lasted from May 24th to 25th. Experts from Zhejiang Biomedical Society, enterprise representatives from Zhejiang Haizheng Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Tianyu Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., and Zhejiang Feng’an Bio-Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., and TU teachers and students attended the event.

On May 24, Taizhou Medical High-end Forum, as one of the series of the activities of Zhejiang Biomedical Society, was launched in the School of Medicine, which was co-chaired by Cao Xuan, Dean of the School of Medicine, and Professor Liu Jiang from Hangzhou Normal University. Zheng Xiaohe, Vice President of Innovative Drug Research Institute of Zhejiang Haizheng Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., focused on the topic of “The Road to Innovation”, and shared an overview of innovative drugs, the development of innovative drugs in China, and the development history of Haizheng Pharmaceutical’s innovative drugs. Prof. Huang Zhifeng from Wenzhou Medical University gave a lecture entitled “Paracrine FGF and the Regulation of Glycolipid Metabolism”, in which he vividly told the participants about his team’s long-time focus on the pharmacological mechanism of growth factor protein drugs and the development of new drugs in a scientific story, which provided a new idea and strategy for the realization of the directional modification of FGF and the discovery of related other drug-derived molecules. Prof. Yang Wei, Chairman of Zhejiang Biomedical Society and Executive Vice Dean of Zhejiang University’s “Belt and Road” International Medical School, focused on the title of TRPM2 channels and neurological diseases, and introduced the team’s research on the structure-function relationship of ligand-gated non-selective cation channels named TRPM2 channels, their physiological and pathological functions in the nervous system, and the development of therapeutic drugs for related diseases against these targets.

On the 25th, Prof. Huang Zhifeng of Zhejiang Biomedical Society and his delegation went to Zhejiang Haizheng Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. for a field visit and carried out a symposium with Haizheng Pharmaceutical Research Institute for in-depth exchanges.

The launch of a series of activities has strengthened the academic exchanges between universities and their schools, as well as between industries and universities, fully demonstrated the industrial advantages of Taizhou medicine, and laid the foundation for further promoting scientific and technological cooperation and innovation in the field of biomedicine in our province, improving the ability of technology transformation, jointly building a new ecology of production, education, research and application, and jointly building a new highland for the cooperation and development of scientific research institutions and pharmaceutical enterprises in our province.
