Le Chuanyong emphasized that higher education research holds immense significance for universities in driving reform and development, shaping distinctive educational characteristics, and broadening social impact. Both domestic and international universities place a high value on such research. Conducting research based on one’s position is an efficient method for cadres to advance their work and improve themselves. Cadres pursuing doctoral degrees should integrate research with their work, utilizing research to address challenges and issues encountered in their work, thereby enhancing their personal research capabilities and professional competence, and achieving both academic and professional “double dividends”. Regarding the approach to conducting effective research, Le Chuanyong shared his insights drawn from his own research and work experience. He advocated utilizing fragmented time to cultivate one’s academic perspectives and produce research outcomes through extensive reading and investigation. It is crucial to enhance coordination by combining “small-scale papers” with “major papers”, ensuring they complement and propel each other forward rather than conflict. Furthermore, mastering scientific methods and embracing new interdisciplinary research techniques is essential. Lastly, adhering to a goal-oriented, task-driven approach and fostering teamwork are vital for the formation of an academic community.

The administrative cadres present reported on their respective preliminary study, research and plan, and put forward suggestions on how to strengthen higher education research and promote team cohesion. Le Chuanyong gave guidance to these participants in terms of thesis topic selection, methodology and layout.
